It is not the ports, stupid |
|
it is the whole issue of outsourcing everything. First there are the steel and textile industries, then the call centers, and now the port security.
I think that the people from Dubai can do a good work and I think it is stupid to say: Brits, yes, Arabs, no.
I think that the Senators and House members who are crying are using this as a political agenda, of course. But I wish that they used this to highlight the problem of outsourcing in general.
As for W, really, he should not say anything until told what stand he should take:
Harriet Miers, the wiretapping, Brownie, the ports. First he stands by his decision/people, then he retracts. What a wimp!

1. It's the thought of having terrorist-linked countries countrolling ports |
|
kind of goes against Bush's anti terror thing

2. And the fact that our ports aren't secure |
|
regardless of who runs them. Only 5% of containers are inspected. This has been known for years and the Bush administration has done nothing about it. They claim to be tough on national security, but there is a huge, gaping hole at our ports. I think that's the issue that will get Americans more fired up than outsourcing. (For the record, I believe outsourcing is an issue that needs to be addressed as well.)
