Most people don't get involved because they feel how much of a difference they can make is small. I say Bull Shit! You're one task of calling, emailing or blogging 10 others once will reach almost 1,000,000 folks in a week's time. I don't have to have a PhD to prove it.

Say you have ten DU blog folks from this thread post. They're asked to reach out to 10 more folks for just one day, but half are too busy or there's some redundant people. The remainder each reach out to ten more with the same message. How many days to reach over 150,000 folks?

10 less 50% = 5 contacting ten each. 50 people DAY ONE
50 less 50% = 25 contacting 10 each 250 people DAY TWO
250 people less 50% = 125 contacting 10 each 1,250 people DAY THREE
1250 people less 50% = 625 people contacting 10 each 6,250 people DAY FOUR
6250 people less 50% = 3,125 people contacting 10 each 31,250 people DAY FIVE
31,250 people less 50% = 15,625 people contacting 10 each 156,250 people DAY SIX

True total is 10 + 50 + 250 + 1250 + 6250 + 31250 + 156,250 = 195,310

My point is our campaign is to circumvent the media until we have critical mass then unfold hell on these neocons and make them put some investigative pressure on what is happening to our country and our democracy.

In two weeks we would exceed 100 million people.

No excuses cut and paste this message and pass it on.

And, BTW, if you run into people who are quick to write off long shots, here are a couple things I've found useful in challenging this particular form of the "don't bother, it's futile" rationalization for inaction that so often masquerades as realism.

• There is incredible public demand for candidates who take strong stands and fight on principle (In our current crisis, that means candidates who recognize that "politics as usual" is dead and that, first and foremost, we must fight to Impeach Bush and Cheney first ).


• The supply of "impeachment candidates" is incredibly low.


• Because the nationwide demand for impeachment candidates is very high, each and every one has a potential supporter ("citizen evangelist") and contributor base that extends FAR beyond their voter base.


• Under these conditions, there are NO long-shots. It doesn't matter where a candidate stands on fundraising in relation to opponents, things can turn around on a dime.


• Whatever the current level of support (polls; size of campaign war chest) candidates who stand out by standing up can quickly attract an amazing level of support through powerful and self-perpetuating word of mouth and viral advocacy.

When we come to see the reality of our own power, it becomes clear that the first step on the path to taking back our country is to:

• Seek out and support the candidates who ARE standing up -- no matter what "conventional wisdom" says about their chances.


• Lobby elected officials and candidates who are not fighting for us to WAKE UP and SPEAK UP!
