Co-pay madness
Edited on Mon Feb-27-06 01:15 PM by LiberalEsto
Before the current ruling junta (with its deep ties to Big Pharma) took over the White House, my family's co-pay for prescriptions was $5. I just sat down with my calculator and ran some numbers, and it's obvious that the pharmaceutical and insurance industries are robbing Americans blind.

In the past 5 years, some of our prescription co-pays have risen anywhere from 366% to 600%

I know that we are extremely lucky to have prescription coverage at all. But just think for a minute. If it's gotten so expensive for us with prescription coverage, what this regime is doing to the average American without prescription or health coverage is outrageous and intolerable.

Our family's prescription co-pay system has become utterly confusing, no doubt on purpose. And they think they're handing you a great deal by letting you get a three-month supply of some medications for the price of two months' supply.

I had to pick up a three-month supply of a prescription for my daughter last week. They charged us for two months' worth under the current plan, so it came to $70 -- which is less than if I'd paid $35 each month - a total of $105 - by buying it a month at a time.
Last year the same prescription cost $20 per month.

We still pay $7 per refill for some generics, but I hate to think what they will cost by the time the Resident and his friends get through looting America.

The Democrats HAVE to start talking about economic issues. People all over the place are hurting, and this is one of many economic issues that have to be addressed.
