Ahhh, Heck...Maybe McCain is being set up to replace the Emperor... |
|
and that's why he's all over the place and in "lockstep" with him.
Who is being groomed to be the VP, though. Or, is it vice versa? Cheney is the one whose going to resign and McCain will replace him?

1. Can't see Mccain as being a player for P or VP |
|
He'll be 72 years old in 2008. I'm an old guy and have no desire to be agist but his age has to work against him; regardless of his politics. Maybe not to a great extent but I believe enough to make him a non-issue in 08. His last shot, in my humble opinion, was 2000.

11. He also has had repeated bouts with skin cancer, including melanoma |
|
OTOH, he's been assiduously kissing right-wing Thumper butt, including the expansive, substantial ass of Fallwell, and whoring himself on the question of intelligent design, so I think he's definitely running.

16. He would be the second oldest man to take office |
|
Reagan was 73 when he started his second term.
I hope you're right, but I don't see McCain's age being a factor as long as he continues to be the media's darling. Chris Matthews called him "our savior" the other day. With those kinds of preposterous statements, I think he would be a shoe-in to be president in 08. On the other hand, I think he could be easily swiftboated due to his age, his health, his role in the Keating 5 scandal, and the fact that he gave away military secrets to the enemy while he was a POW.

2. I have thought that also..... |
|
that Cheney would resign due to "health" issues. (Yeah, he staying VP is bad for OUR health. Then they would put inplace the newest Goldenboy who would then be an incumbent VP running for resident of the WH.

don't worry, John McCain will be in there in 08.
And that's suppose to make me feel good?
I don't think so.
More of the same (light).

8. But, McCain knew Shrubby would amend the Torture Bill with a signing |
|
statment...which he did. Bush has been doing this with alot of bills. So, McCain got to look like he didn't support torture...while knowing that Bush would do what he wanted.
McCain has been lockstep with Bush in the past weeks...defending him at every turn.
Who else could the Repugs put up with their non-Fundie Conservative backers freaking out on him. Fukiyama and rebellion from Pete King and others.
Bush might not trust McCain but the Repug Moderates (if you can call them "moderates") really preferred McCain to Bush in 2000. They would be very comfortable with McCain figuring most Americans still see him as popular.

13. McCain folded on that bill |
|
Negotiated away some of the tougher provisions, and then completely folded by not saying anything about the signing statement. He's bought and paid for now.

10. I have a feeling that he is - and he has already settled on his VP |
|
Joe Lieberman.
I think when Kerry courted him, he probably like the idea of a duel-party ticket - it makes him seem like a true moderate man of the people.
The way Joe has been so accommodating to the right lately - and extremely hesitant to criticize - he is positioning himself now.
Who knows what the heck to Gang of 14 has as their final agenda.

McCain is nothing but lapdog...he'll say or do anything required of him to get a pat on the head from the power that be. He lacks ethics, but so do they all.

He'll be the next Gerald Ford...sure loser in 2008. Whomever they choose to replace the Dick won't be able to get rid of the stink, especially if he/she has to pardon members of the Crime Family. Maybe, he'll take one for the team, since he'll be too old for 2012 or 2016.
