Democrats need to learn to talk in simple terms
Like this:

"I am running for (Congress/President). You want to know all about me, and know if I will represent you well. So let me tell you what I'll do.
- I will keep the country safe by fixing the security problems around our country, from airports, to seaports, to our borders. Its ridiculous that this hasn't been done yet by the Republicans! Its simply unacceptable. *I* will fix this.
- I will do everything in my power to get jobs back in America, by punishing corporations for outsourcing our jobs and putting real dollars into re-training Americans who do end up losing their jobs. I don't want you to be unemployed any more than you do. I will fix this.
- I will treat your tax dollars Responsibly. I will not overspend, over-borrow or over-tax. I will restore fairness to the tax code so that people pay what they are supposed to pay. 98% of Americans should not be carrying the tax burden of the other 2%. I will fix this.
- I will make sure you and your family get Health Insurance if you need it, and I will make it affordable.
- I will make sure your Constitutional Rights, the foundation of our country, are never, EVER violated again.

The vast majority of people in this country are the middle class. You do not benefit from Republican tax-cuts for the rich. You do not benefit from Republican ethics scandals. You do not benefit from Republican overspending, over-borrwing and increasing national debt. You do not benefit from Republican policies that outsource our jobs to foreign countries. You do not benefit from Republican favoritism to huge corporations. You do not benefit from Republican policies that turn over security of America to foreign governments. You do not benefit from Republican laws that violate your Constitutional Rights.

The vast majority of Americans benefit from the Democratic philosophy. You benefit from having your jobs secured, having your health care provided for, having your saftey and security protected, and having your government operate ethically and responsibly. This is what the Democratic Party will bring to America. We always have, and we always will."

2. I've been using that tact for quite awhile
BUSH SUCKS
REPUBLICANS LIE
THE CONSERVATIVE BASE IS COMPOSED OF IGNORANT MORONS
THE CULTURE OF CORRUPTION IS A PIGSTY FOR BUSH'S BASE

It works.

3. They also need to learn to say
what they mean and stick to it. Stop being so "politically correct" and get down and dirty like the rethugs do constantly.

4. HOWEVER
Your tact should be used to secure members of bush's base. I recall President Bartlett on West Wing saying something to the effect that we should not be afraid to let the populace know they elected candidates who are educated. On the other hand, Senator Kerry, whom I proudly voted for, could drone on about minutae to a fault.

5. simple is good, emotional is better.
we shouldn't worry about winning over people with logic, we've go logic out the wazzoo.

we need to reach those who vote more emotionally.

show OUTRAGE at banana republican mismanagement.

use words like DISGUSTED, SHAMEFUL, EMBARASSING, INCOMPETENT. say it loudly and with a sneer.

for instance, "like you, i'm absolutely DISGUSTED by the republicans' irresponsible overspending. mortgaging your childrens' future to the chinese and giving away our posts to the arabs just to embezzling your tax dollars for the benefit of his ultra-rich golfing buddies. it's a CRIME what they're doing in america's name, and i will put an end to it!"

10. I'm not sure. Will it work? It sounds good.
Are people dumb? Or just distracted? We could win. If we're heard. Thats the key. Nothing else matters.

:D

16. Thanks. Its all so easy to do.
Edited on Mon Feb-27-06 04:02 PM by rpgamerd00d
1. Create jobs in seaports (customs + coast guard) and border patrol. This not only creates jobs, but secures our borders.
2. Remove tax incentive for outsourcing jobs (this is ludicrous to start with). Then, add a tax on importing services just like we tax imported goods. So, if they hire a person in India for a customer-service call-center job (instead of an American) at a mere $3000/year, they will get taxed for the value of that service. So, if an American would make, say, $25,000/yr for that job, you'd tax them at $25k.
3. Eliminate tax cuts for the rich. Eliminate the tons and tons of corporate loopholes.
4. Single Payer Health Care.
5. Amend Constitution, add Right to Privacy explicitly. Amend FISA. Amend any other laws that need it.
6. Make public financing of all elections mandatory. This removes all special interests, lobbyists and big business from govt.
