In two days, our income may drop to less than half. |
|
By Wednesday evening I should have some idea if our contract is being picked up again. We'll for certain lose our dental insurance--my huband carries our health insurance for now. It's like waiting for an axe to fall. I'm in my 50s now and have had health problems this past year, and I'm afraid I won't be able to find another job. Haven't had to look for one for 12 years. I don't really want to go back to school. I got my student loans paid off 2 years ago. I'm really nervous now.
This is a great economy. Thanks, George.

3. Hope things work out for you |
|
Hopefully, this will be needless worry.
If not, you have to realize that sometimes opportunities present themselves in strange ways. Perhaps it's time for you to do something else, and this is a way to head you in that direction.
Best of luck, and I hope things work out for the best for you!

4. One reason unions always insisted on seniority rules |
|
something that pissed a lot of young males off at unions, was because they knew corporate pigs all too well and knew they'd use that fiftieth birthday as an excuse to get rid of any worker who was likely to be a little slower than a teenager. Now they use it to get rid of any worker who might start to cost the insurance plan something.
Going back to school won't help since the pigs are shipping every job that doesn't depend on face to face contact out of the country as fast as they can.
Neither party has the will to help any of us, either, since they all seem to think this is a nation of yuppies with trust funds and a few underclass people to keep Walmart running smoothly.
I hope your contract is picked up. I hope you keep full income and full insurance. I just know the rich and powerful are spending all their time and energy to strip it all away so they can get richer.

6. When my husband died a year ago, his SS got cut in half. |

It was quite a drop in income for me considering that we were pretty low income anyway. You should sit down and go over your budget as to where to cut costs if the worst happens.
I have adjusted. When I go shopping, I make it one trip to go everywhere I need to go once a week. It has considerably reduced my gasoline consumption and I am able to go a month on one tank of gas.
I also do what I need to do to keep my grocery bill under $50 a week. As you get older you need more medication and it's getting more expensive everyday, so I try to use only the medication I absolutely can't do without.
On edit: Since I live in California I don't turn the heat on anymore, but dress warm and huddle under afghans when it's cold. This has reduced my propane bill almost 75% I know if you live in the colder parts of the USA, this isn't a practical solution.
Good luck! I hope you don't have to go through this.

7. When will they see that the gov. must go to a gov. health care |
|
It is better than what we have now. Sorry about the job. Some thing must be going on in the Stock Market. First time since Bush got into office my retirement fund paid more. All of Clinton's time it went up. I am sort glad I am fully retired now. It is really scary out side where the real people live.I just do not envy young people today.
