I love DU because I can learn so much here. Recently, I have been reading about oil, Iran, and Iran's oil bourse. I know what Iran and oil are, now what is a bourse?

Thank you in advance your your kind and enlightened responses. Peace and low stress, ALL!

5. nice handle!
:kick:

I love what I call the DU filter. I have posted in the past similar threads regarding pataphysics and cosplay, and I find that DU can give me a better idea then other sites. In my pataphysics post, I actually included the wiki definition. Perhaps I'll do the same here via edit.:kick:

2. PS-
I think that it is a mesh of bounce and course, but I really have little / no clue. This is what my imagination has come up with.:)

7. welcome to DU!
I am a big fan of comedy, and I can take foul language in a certain context (as in Richard Prior). I would much rather make DU entirely PG-13, so teens could use it as a reference for information. That being said, I am ashamed to admit that I posted a "Senate Override Muddaphucker" thread the other day (just saying these words make me happy).

You may find that some of the group forums are far more civil than the major discussion forums. DU has over 50,000 members (I think) - some of them are here to support the Dem party, some to support specific causes, some to disrupt. There are thousands of different reasons to be at DU. Sometimes folks are here to curse / swear.

I hope that you enjoy DU. Thank you for your post.:kick:

ps- keep in mind everyone is a bully online (quoting Dilbert).

10. Welcome, I'll try to watch my language around you......
I will say though, that this isn't an arts and crafts forum, it is a forum of people currently frozen out of political power by suspicious means and subsequently are quite angry and embittered, especially when commenting on politics.

We do keep out overt sex talk. We do not allow character assassination of other DUers. The swearing is generally reflective of the way most of us (without children) talk. Many of us (even those that swear) are highly educated folks. The Freeps seem to be really offended by the swearing, so that counts for something too.....

4. A bourse is a stock exchange ...
The Iranian government has finally developed the ultimate “nuclear” weapon that can swiftly destroy the financial system underpinning the American Empire. That weapon is the Iranian Oil Bourse slated to open in March 2006. It will be based on a euro-oil-trading mechanism that naturally implies payment for oil in Euro. In economic terms, this represents a much greater threat to the hegemony of the dollar than Saddam’s, because it will allow anyone willing either to buy or to sell oil for Euro to transact on the exchange, thus circumventing the U.S. dollar altogether.
