Has anyone else here just given up trying to explain reality to them?
Of course I'm referring to the Bushbots.

I gave up a few months before the 2004 election. Up until then, something inside me wanted to believe that if I just illustrated my points better or explained clearer...they'd wake up and see the obvious.

Nothing worked. It makes me very sad to say that my only conclusion is that somewhere between 48 and 52 percent of America is unfathomably stupid.

I didn't want to give up, but I have no choice. They are not salvageable.

1. Not so much stupid
as just rabidly selfish, or gullible, and believing that the neocon philosophy is one they can own part of eventually.

2. you need to reach them emotionally.
my favorite is laughing in their faces. humiliate them and treat them like IDIOTS for getting sucks into faux news bu**sh** or the like. that's the only way. they need to be SHAKEN into doubting the comfortable little world of banana republican lies and denial.

3. This is what I say to a Bushbot/Neocon face to face :
"Did your paycheck go up when Bush passed his tax cuts?"
(No)
"OK, did you get a 3% or more raise this year ?"
(No)
"Last year?"
(No)
"Any year since 2000?"
(No)
"We know gas went up, how about food and everyday stuff you buy?"
(Yes)
"Are houses more expensive over the last few years?"
(Yes)
"Do you feel safe now or do ya think terrorists can still attack us?"
(Still a threat)
"Do you max out your credit cards and make minimum payments?"
(any answer)
"Do you think its a good idea to?"
(No)
"Why not?"
(interest kills ya)
"So, is it good to have a huge national debt thats the same thing as a maxxed credit card do you think?"
(No)
"Why not?"
(We'll pay lots in interest)
"Who will pay that interest?"
(Us)
"You mean with our taxes, right?"
(Yes)

"OK. So, why are you voting Republican again?"
(glazed look)

5. They are irredeemably ignorant zombies
I've been fortunate in only having to deal with one directly, a relative. I cut ties with her after she insulted me while being all smug over the 2004 election results. I said to her, "That's okay. I'll watch and wait for that smug smile to turn to horror."

Not that I'm holding my breath, but I like to daydream about her popping up to apologize to me...and the choice words I'll use to tell her to go pound sand.

8. it's always about $$$$$$ won for slick Willie and will win for us
Some of them are already discovering that they are broker now and are renting their garments. Keep pointing out that Iraq is costing $100.000 a min and that it is being billed to them. The elite are having a hell of a party, on credit and the diminishing middle class is already feeling the crunch.

We make more headway taking it to them, missionary like, than we do arguing the merits of McCain/Cunde vs hillary, among ourselfs, from the comfort of DU. We deliver the only news they ever get. Semper fi!
