1. Anyone interested?!
Several legal experts including Woolsey are bing questioned about the legality of bushco's domestic spying program.

This is a continuation of the hearings from Feb 6 when Gonzales was questioned.

4. Sounds good, but I have CSPAN on listening to
two men talking about the ports deal and how great it will be!
I wonder why CPAN isn't showing the spying hearings? Maybe they will?

6. I don't see it on their schedule
maybe because Gonzales is done 'testifying' (aka NOT UNDFER OATH!! :grr: I'm still mad about that)

But I look forward to hearing what the legal experts have to say - especially the ones who are apologists for the bush admin.

12. this should be interesting,
Woolsey vs. Fein on the same panel. If memory serves me right they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. I know for Fein (Federalist Society?) firmly believes the admin is violating the Constitution and took part in the Dem hearings last month.

May just have to tune in for this one.

But, alas, I seriously doubt anyone will be held accountable for their remarks (ala Gonzales).

7. Isn't this an exercise in futility?
Nothing's going to come of it... The way our government works, the idiot in chief can do anything he wants as long as his "legal advisors" tell him it's okay!

9. Well, no one's going to make you listen

I don't think it is futile to know what the legal experts think about this. I don't think anyone harbors any illusions that this hearing is going to bring bushco down, but that doesn't mean it is useless to know how they are justifying the spying and how to counter their arguments...

11. I know..I'm just frustrated
that more and more crap about this administration continues to come out..but nothing changes...other than the poll numbers. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that people are starting to wake up to what these crooks are doing/have done...but I don't think our lawmakers get it! We want action...not just talk.

look at the panel. No one with direct connections to the administration. Nothing said today could be held against them. These people may be "experts", but not one of them was directly involved in the decision to start the program.

Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 10:03 AM by meganmonkey
What is the scope of president's war powers?

The NSA program is overreaching his powers - because of an express prohibition of this (FISA law). He may have some right to curb civil rights in wartime but this goes too far.
