Bush says bin Laden tape aided re-election:
Reuters - Tuesday, February 28, 2006; 9:47 AM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said his 2004 re-election victory over Sen. John Kerry was inadvertently aided by Osama bin Laden, who issued a taped diatribe against him the Friday before Americans went to the polls, The Examiner newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Bush said there were "enormous amounts of discussion" inside his campaign about the 15-minute tape, which he called "an interesting entry by our enemy" into the presidential race.

Bush's comments in the Washington newspaper were excerpts from the new book "Strategery" by Bill Sammon, a long-time White House correspondent.

"What does it mean? Is it going to help? Is it going to hurt?" Bush told Sammon of the bin Laden tapes. "Anything that drops in at the end of a campaign that is not already decided creates all kinds of anxieties, because you're not sure of the effect.

"I thought it was going to help," Bush said. "I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn't want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush."

1. Unfortunately, people believed this!
The truth being that Neo-Fascism was the best thing to happen to terrorism was never realized by the average "mercan". :spank:

2. Has the WH commented on this?
Because this, compounded with their obvious use of terror alerts for political purposes, really begs the question, "Are Bush and bin Laden playing for the same team?" Because they certainly seem to help each other a lot.

3. Gee, ya think?
I don't buy the "double bank-shot" theories that bin Laden knew he'd be helping Bush, but it really couldn't have worked out better for Osama. Bush has been an unprecedented windfall to the cause of world terrorism. Bin Laden's almost as stupid and twice as delusional as the president. But Dubya sure beats the pants off Osama when it comes to the raw capacity to screw the pooch. What an ugly symbiotic relationship they have... on our nickel.

5. I was hoping someone in the DLC or of national recognition would
jump on Bush's comment about this. This is what the republican machine from Rove to Fox to Hannity & the rest of the corrupt gang does. With us it is just silence and ignore.

Bush gave the dems an opening here. He is basically saying Osama was afraid of him being reelected and the dems could easily counter this by saying why would he not want Bush President, just look at how much Bush has helped his cause. The only uniting Bush has done is with the terrorists.

6. Yes, and the ad agency Bush/Cheney hired did a marvelous job
with the actor who played bin Laden. Of course bin Laden really wanted to keep Bush because he is so enjoying his retirement in the luxury resort he stays in.

8. I second that emotion
When the last tape came out a few months ago, a rightie I work with said "Sounds like you and Osama got together and made a tape!" right when I got to work. When I got home I saw how Hardball and the rest of the rightwing shill had been making the same type comments that evening.

I think this is all pretty well planned out in advance personally.

9. bin Laden doesn't want Bush to be the president
I don't know why, Bush can't catch him. He's better for Osama than someone that can catch him.

"something must be right with Bush."

He forgot the not. Something must be not right with Bush.

He can't even manage speaking in the first person and now he's going for third, huh? I like how he uses the Royal WE too and commands that none of his subjects dare look him in the eye.

10. This proves without a doubt....
that Bush doesn't give a flying fuck about the safety and security of the American people. All he cared about: "Is it going to help? Is it going to hurt?" Not "OBL is the biggest threat to America today. We have use all available resources to catch this guy."

Since the day he was selected for his 1st term, he & Rove started campaigning for the 2004 election. That is ALL they cared about. Without Osama, there would be no way to instill fear. No Terra! Terra! Terra! And no way he would have *won the election without the big bad boogyman.

I wonder if the freeps are starting to see a pattern here.
