WOW!! Even scandal-ridden Ohio Gov. Taft calls GWB's many scandals "mistakes"

WASHINGTON, AP - Republican governors are openly worrying that the administration's stumbles are taking an election-year toll on the party back home. The GOP governors reluctantly acknowledge that the series of gaffes threatens to undermine public confidence in President George W. Bush's ability to provide security, long his greatest strength among voters.

"You've got solid conservatives coming up speaking like they haven't before,"
said Republican Mark Sanford of South Carolina. "It's likely that something's
going on at the grass roots." The unease was clear in interviews with more than a dozen governors over the weekend at the winter meeting of the National Governors Association.

Even Bush's political allies saw weaknesses. They listed:
---The chaos in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
---The nationwide confusion over the drug prescription program - confusion that
has forced many states to step in to help the elderly get medication.
---The port security flap, which has spurred criticism from leading Republicans in
Congress and the states.

Republican Bob Taft of Ohio offered judgment on Katrina: "This is hindsight,
but it was a mistake to bury FEMA under the Department of Homeland Security."

1. No, it's not hindsight.
Many people knew it was a mistake to bury FEMA under the Dept. of Homeland Security.

7. When *bush retires.....
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 11:54 AM by liberalnurse
he won't have that "selected-canned" audience anymore. I suspect he will drop off the radar since he will not be able to threaten anyone anymore...thus end up drunk....daily. His circus of clowns will have abandoned him for the next Carnival...He will be alone to chop wood.

Laura, she will go traveling the world for 10 years....hanging out in the Paris and the French Riviera.

9. Can you imagine how history will treat GWB?? He'll prob.
have an entire chapter devoted just to him.

It'd HAVE to be because subtopics would include all his many HUNDREDS of mistakes and insults to America and its people. It would be a chapter on HOW NOT TO RUN AMERICA and 100s OF EASY WAYS TO DESTROY THE AMERICAN GOP!!
