Scooter notes ID'd CIA spy

BY JAMES GORDON MEEK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - Handwritten notes taken by the CIA show Vice President Cheney's top aide knew the name of CIA spy Valerie Plame a month before her cover was blown. It appears to be the first known document in the hands of prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald that directly contradicts Lewis (Scooter) Libby's claim he learned from reporters in July 2003 that Valerie Plame was a CIA employee.

Libby, who was Cheney's chief of staff, has been indicted for perjury in the CIA leak investigation.

Scooter, you really should be compensating ReddHedd at firedoglake for the advice she and her colleagues are offering to you -- they'd prefer that you not be the firewall that vaporizes ....

And between your former boss shooting a man in the face, and now having poll numbers in the low 20s, and the President having poll numbers in the 30s -- well, is that really what you want to bank the whole farm on at this point, if you are under indictment for five felonies and facing further investigation?

I mean, think about it: you are Scooter, sitting at home when you aren't at the wingnut welfare think tank office, and you flip on the teevee, and you are hit with pictures of Iraq sliding into civil war, this port deal with Dubai, NSA spying revelations, more Republican indictments and investigations into members of Congress...it just goes on and on every day.

Can you assure yourself, if you are Scooter, that any pardon at all is even remotely possible...in the next three years, in this political climate, with Bush and Cheney as your trusty knights in severely dented and rusting armor, wheezing along astride a very lame looking duck to carry them forward into battle for the next three years? This is your battle plan for staying out of prison? You want to risk your life and freedom, and the happiness and well-being of your wife and children, on the steadfast loyalty and political capital of Bush and Cheney? Don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't be holding my breath on that one, either.

Come to the light, Scooter. Fess up. Spill your guts. You'll feel better. Fitzgerald seems like a good listener. You know if things get dicey, Rove would stab you in a heartbeat to save his own pasty ass -- why not be the planter instead of the plantee with that knife, Scooter? Think about it...wouldn't you feel better if you just let it all out?

Think about it, Scooter ....

Peace.

3. Finally, We Have The Answer
To whether or not computers were seized. Wonder how FitzG., got his hands on that Cheney note, you'd have thought those smart guys would have learned a lesson or two from Nixon?

4. Scooter's got to choose between the smoking gun and the mushroom cloud.
He just better not take too long to decide.

... if that."

This judge is going to keep the trial to the issue of whether Libby lied, and not let him go off on a fishing expedition into who else may have leaked the information on Valerie Plame. I think Libby has boxed himself in on his memory defense. He now has a huge burden to show that he was so preoccupied with other matters on six or seven different occasions that he couldn't accurately remember what he told or was told by Miller, Cooper and Russert. It's almost like using the space cadet defense many drug defendants offer, rarely successfully.

Sing, Scooter, sing .... Mr. Fitzgerald has at least seven folk whispering in his ear about their conversations with you about Valerie P -- prior to Novak's hit piece.

Peace.
