Oh, so now we are the bigots and xenophobes.
Bush & Co. must really want this Dubai port deal badly. They, and their talk radio and TV loudmouths have taken to calling the rest of us bigots who hate Arabs, and xenophobes who hate foreigners.

Well, there may be a few liberal bigots and xenophobes here and there, but I don't recall meeting them. From my life experience, virtually all the bigots and xenophobes I've run into are conservatives, outright fascists, or neoNazis.

Shit. Bush and his traitorous apostles give hypocrisy a bad name. They've entered a new land in which unlimited greed and treachery are business as usual, and words mean whatever they say they mean.

I won't be satisfied until every one of these beasts are sitting in a docket at the Hague. And it will be a joyous day when they are convicted and isolated from the remainder of humanity for the rest of their lives.

One final thought. If the definitions of bigotry and xenophobia are changed to mean despising Bush & Co. and everything they stand for, count me in.

1. Bush & Co. hate America
I guess I'd rather be accused of hating a country who has facilitated those who've harmed us, rather than hating my own country.

We need to throw this back in their faces:

WHY DOES THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HATE AMERICA? WHY ARE THEY DOING BUSINESS WITH THOSE WHO AID TERRORISTS WHO HAVE HARMED THE UNITED STATES?

Let them explain THAT to America!

This race thing really gets me. It's NOT ABOUT RACE DAMMIT! It's about common sense and national security. Exactly - Why DOES Bush want to do business with terrorists?

And by the way - it was the RWers who were racially slurring the Arabs, calling them "ragheads" and such! Fomenting hatred against Muslims and Arabs! And NOW they want to say the DEMOCRATS are racist because they won't follow Bush on this?

This excuse won't fly, because so many Repubs are against this deal too. Besides, this is a serious opportunity for the Dems to reassert their strong allegiance to our national security.

4. This is partly why the Democratic tactic of....
...saying foreign companies shouldn't run US ports (when most of our ports are in fact already run by foreign companies and have been for years) was beyond stupid.

A) That tactic only works if your base in xenophobic.

B) Because homework wasn't done and "no foreign control of our ports" sounded like a good soundbite now half the Dem leadership look like complete jackasses.

10. We've always done it that way is a not a rational argument.
Please explain why it's better for foreign countries, or foreign companies to be running our ports.

13. We have always done it that way IS a rational argument...
...when used against new found outrage over something.

"Please explain why it's better for foreign countries, or foreign companies to be running our ports."

It's not better nor is it worse. It makes little difference if American companies or foreign companies run the ports.

24. It would be racist to tar all Americans with one interpretation
Wouldn't that be bigotry and racism?

I'm sure you know there's nothing good about any foreign nation running our most vulnerable points of entry. Particularly one that harbors and supports terrorists. Does one really need more reason to denounce it? As you kniow, this doesn't even rise to the level of racism other than for those who are truly racist, and they're all Republicans.

5. Yes, Cyrano, we are bigoted against DESPOTS and non-democratic
GOVERNMENTS running our ports. The GOP keeps trying to paint the UAE as "progressive." Why? Because they have new shit--fancy satellites, clean new cars, jazzy concrete buildings with swimmin' pools and whatnot, CONSUMER STUFF. And lots of it!!!

Let's look at a couple of things they DON'T have:

--Representative government (unless you count those seven clowns who got their jobs by heredity as "representative")

--ELECTIONS

--Political parties!!!

--Protection for minority groups, especially homosexuals, who are persecuted.

--Equal rights for females.

Why do we have to bomb the shit out of Iraq to bring these swell things to the "freedom loving peoples" over there (and they aren't getting most of them, after all that pain, by all accounts), yet do BUSINESS with people who do NOT have these things, and NEVER WILL, so long as DESPOTS hold sway?

So yeah, we're bigots--we're bigots when it comes to bullshitters and hypocrites!!!!!

9. Yelling "Handing our ports to terrorists!" was irresponsible.
Rove has laid a trap and some Democrats have rushed right in.
The Dubai Ports deal is poses serious risks. Justifying opposition
by equating the UAE government with al-Quaeda was reckless.
Some DUers here have reached for excuses to further demonize Arabs
by pointing out that they are not as progressive as us Westerners
about Israeal, women, or homosexuality. Yes, liberals can be
bigoted too.

Sure, Rove and the Bushies are selective and hypocritical in singling out
their critics on the left, but denouncing the deal by playing the race card
gives them the opportunity.

Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 01:15 PM by Marr
The Republican base has been thoroughly trained to call their racism "common sense". They're proud of it. They think it's part of being "un-PC".

GOP propagandists cannot smear their opponents by shouting "bigot". Anyone with half a brain can see it's bullshit, and the hardcore Bushbots think bigot is a compliment anyway.

Republicans define bigotry - this is such a hilarious instance of projection - I can hardly keep from laughing.

I'm surprised the RW bigots can state this with a straight face...
