IF the Bird Flu becomes serious, you CAN blame it on Bush... |
|
And the quagmire that is happening in Iraq.
Fact: War zones create breeding grounds for disease. Dead and wounded everywhere, access to health care is limited, less resources are allocated to health, etc.
Fact: One of the worst pandemics in the world happened pretty much at the same time as WWI.
Fact: The bird flu has been detected in Iraq
Look, I'm not saying that the bird flu is going to become a problem, BUT if it does, then this war is a contributing factor to it's seriousness and the warmongers behind it should be held responsible.

As bad as the Iraq situation is, there is nothing in the world today, even in Iraq, anywhere near comparable to the conditions on the western front in WWI. There are those, and this is not accepted as fact yet, but there are respected scientists interested in the evolution of infection who believe it was these conditions which cause a particulraly nasty version of the flu to spread during WWI. You had sick immuno-compromised soldiers packed together in fetid trenches and in field hospitals. The virus had an immobile population in which to trnsmit a deadly form. We are not seeing these conditions in Iraq now, not even close.
