I first became aware of the case when I visited Atlanta in the 80's

A little background on the case. It appears that having a black wife became too inconvenient for Mr. Sullivan:

*On this date in 1987, an African-American socialite was murdered. Lita McClinton Sullivan was the victim shot by Phillip Anthony Harwood.

He was charged with the Atlanta murder in April 1988. Yet it has been suspected that he was hired by McClinton Sullivan’s husband. James Sullivan (who is white) and McClinton were married in 1976 and lived in Macon's affluent Shirley-Hills neighborhood. After Sullivan sold the liquor business to a Pensacola, Fla., company for a reported $5 million in 1983, the Sullivan’s moved to West Palm Beach, Fla. In 1985, Lita Sullivan accused Sullivan of infidelity and moved to their condominium in Atlanta. She filed for divorce, requesting the townhouse and alimony in settlement. Their divorce trial was scheduled to begin Jan. 26, 1987; her murder was ten days before the divorce trial.

Sullivan was captured in Thailand in 2002. Fulton County prosecutors, who are seeking the death penalty for Harwood, allege that Sullivan paid him $25,000 to kill Lita Sullivan. Her father, 68-year-old Emory McClinton, and his wife, state Rep. Jo Ann McClinton, D-Atlanta received a phone call in 2004 from the FBI saying Sullivan had been extradited. Sullivan’s trial should begin in 2005.

a lot about it lately in the news.

2. Yes...they had the story on the crime channel....

A cold hearted bastard he is.....

Cases like these make me go back and forth on the death penalty...for sure if anyone deserves it he does......

3. Yes, Court TV is airing the trial..saw it years ago and then they

had a comment that Court TV would be airing the trial live and thought...that is OLD then last night I caught the updated info and realized he has been hiding out in Tailand and has been extradited. I am glad he is finally going to be tried and hope he is found guilty and gets the death penalty. big news here in Palm Beach county-and has been since I moved down here
