No abortion except for the life of the mother...no exception for rape or incest..
They have done this solely to muddy the waters before the election, and are admitting as much..(according to an interview I saw just now on CNN)..
What's really needed in this country (and in ALL states) is a mechanism to FORCE legislators to do their necessary work FIRST..and save the BS "work" until their real work is all done.
Alabama (after having a brush with Katrina, and all that entails) was having their legislature debating ....claiming the peach as the official fruit and some silly stuff about red clay being the "official soil"..
remember when you were little and Mom said.,."No TV until your homework is all done"? The same simple rule should apply to legislators.
Can you even imagine how much more efficient they would all suddenly become if they could not debate their "pet projects" until the really hard stuff was all done?
Nationally there are apparently 13 recurring bills every session, and with all the "vacation days" they take, those bills should keep them busy..
The public needs to figure out a way to get "single issue" legislation too. In a post-9/11 world it is VITAL to our security to have clear and concise legislation written so that every entity knows exactly who is responsible for what, how much money they have, and the legislative tools to implement those laws.
The "extra" stuff should be JUST that.... extra..as in AFTER the important things have been accounted for..
Bogus "red meat issues" , used for pure electioneering should be ILLEGAL, because they use up valuable time in congress and then again in the SCOTUS...
WASTED TIME is our enemy in the "war on terrah"..

1. Yes, if they ever stopped the bull and worked for the people, they |
|
just might have the time to actually write and read the bills themselves before they debated and voted.
