I'm feeling a lot better about this Dubai ports deal
A Conservative of my acquaintance explained to me that Dubai and Ports World wouldn't dare risk allowing an unsavory security risk onto US shores because that would jeopardize billions of dollars' worth of business.

Well, that settles it then.

Heck, with that in mind, I've figured out how to win and end the War of Terrorism. All we need to do is sell our security services for a hefty price to Bin Laden et al. Then they wouldn't possibly act against the US, because it would be bad business.

I don't know why all those super-smart economics/security guys haven't figured this out on their own already.

3. And of course the head of DPW would have to be informed before
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 05:14 PM by kenny blankenship
some functionary with radical leanings helped a terrorist to enter the country or receive bomb materials. It would have to go all the way up to the top and since the top guys have all that money to lose it would therefore never get approved.
Oh yeah that answers all concerns.

Just like that Egyptian pilot who intentionally crashed his Boeing 767 airliner (EgyptAir Flight 990) killing himself and all 200 passengers back in 1999. The heads of EgyptAir had all their salaries and stock options to lose if such a thing happened, and since they had to have known that it was going to happen, and since they had every disincentive known to man forbidding their approval of such an action, we must conclude that the crash never took place.

4. War is our largest export and now perhaps import*
War Profiteering and Disaster Reconstruction is what Halliburton and so many other "defense" companies are all about.

Don't kid yourself that it would be "bad" for business. It's a guaranteed boon and that is why there is so much war profiteering/disaster profiteering going on right now.

7. Funny, does he think Bush would go after them?
Why? If they could pay off any blunder they would no more be held to account than say any of our other "allies" on the war on terror. It's not that the company itself is evil and wants to do us in-it's their proximity to those that want it bad enough (criminal crossroads anyone?)and would have a in. It's not rocket science.

10. Tell me why we shouldnt sell the White House to Dubai?
Seriously, should we allow Dubai to manage the white house? If not then that blows the conslobatard argument.

11. About the equivalent to the stupid argument that slaves weren't abused
Because they were valuable economic property.

There's a reason why it's called the dismal science...

13. Well, if I was running a business that funneled a portion of profits
to terrorists groups, I would protect that part of my business that made profits - while still funneling some of those profits to the terrorists group.

That way I have plausible deniability.

You can't prove I gave them money. You can't make a direct connection.

and I did keep terrorists out of the ports.

I just give them money to get in other ways... money I made from America.

So America would be paying me to support terrorists that might one day attack them - just not through the ports I operate.

It would be foolish to allow terrorists through those ports - and not just because of the potential loss of billions of dollars...but because there would be no denying your complicity.

Way smarter to keep the terrorists out of the ports - collect the money - then funnel some of that money to terrorists once the money was in my home country's bank - and away from US eyes.

That would be the smart move - if I was a country and or business that funded terrorism.

15. It's not like they'd get blamed anyway.
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 yet 85% of American troops think they're there to avenge 9/11!

If another LIHOP happened Bushco/MSM would just blame Iran.
