I'm glad Dobbs is finally talking about this because it has bothered me since the beginning. We don't have a port operator who could compete for this kind of deal. But more than that, we no longer having shipping. Why? Well, I've thought about this and have decided that it has to do with labor costs. (shocked? hell no) When I worked with insuring longshoremen (anyone working on/near the water) the rate for their coverage was the highest in the nation. Really high.

This definitely leaves us open because we are a country that imports so many of our vital goods, including food, clothing, heavy equipment, in fact, nearly everything. In a crisis, if there was a demand for shipping, we are fucked. Big Time.
