Another hot one!.....Harmon tells Bush he broke the law !!
Finally...Jane Harmon finally tells him she's through pussyfooting around. Never thought I'd see it from her. :bounce: :bounce:

<clip>

WASHINGTON Jan 4, 2006 — The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee told President Bush Wednesday that the White House broke the law by withholding information from the full congressional oversight committees about a new domestic surveillance program.

In a letter to Bush, Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., said the National Security Act requires the heads of the various intelligence agencies to keep the entire House and Senate intelligence committees "fully and currently informed of the intelligence activities of the United States."

Only in the case of a highly classified covert action can the president choose to inform a narrower group of Congress members about his decision, Harman said. That action is defined in the law as an operation to influence political, economic or military conditions of another country.

"The NSA program does not qualify as a 'covert action,'" Harman wrote.

Finally our Dems are going for the jugular. I can't believe this. The "06 explosion. It's happening!!!!!!!!!

1. Finally we're moving into the realm of "law-breaking"
From just "mere oversight"

2. I like Harman for her work on national security issues
she's got experience enough to serve as National Security Advisor or even CIA head

she has to know that she'll never be anything more than a rep so maybe in the next Dem administration, she'll get a post

4. This is particularly noteworthy because
she was always very reserved in her attacks. They were almost nonexistent. Almost couldn't tell she was supposed to be one of us.

But not anymore. Maybe a little of Feinstein rubbed off on her over Christmas. Something is sure going on and I like the trend. Her coming out this strong is going to carry a lot of weight because of her previous low profile.

All abo-o-oard for the impeachment train.

10. 10-4 on that one Garbo.
This is large. She wouldn't come close to saying that about all the fungus in phase II. I think we better hang on to our hair because when congress starts day one, it's going to be a hell of a ride.

6. it was covert program to influence political conditions in _this_ country.
In fact Bozoid's hesitance to tell anyone might be evidence that he thought he was following the law - by only informing a few members of Congress about a covert program to influence political, economic or, no make that and, military conditions in a country. This one.

A surveillance state is its own reward - it only feels better after you stop. Kind of like this: :hurts:
