Porn Kills
is “just an expression” -- so “get over it” and “get a sense of humor.”

“What do you think of soccer moms who turn tricks on the side?” is just a byte delivered to your great room courtesy of “CSI:__” so just Ignore it.

A quote tonight showing what a slime Nixon was, from a secret tape included:

“I don't mind the homosexuality. I understand it. Nevertheless, goddamn, I don't think you glorify it on public television, homosexuality, any more than you glorify whores.”

A post on an “anti-political correctness” thread today suggested:

"Sometimes, it's better just to let language and society diverge w/o trying to control everything."

So here stands America with glamorized whores and eroticized butchery beamed into great rooms where Too Much Information bounces off the attention deficit disorder.

Families don’t talk and Johnny don’t read and classrooms are crowded so “language and society diverge” while what used to be called “paying attention” is now known as “trying to control everything.”

What’s really pornographic is the unraveling Capitol of the Culture of Corruption;
what’s really obscene is that the media manipulated story which was supposed to distract, has actually focused a bright headlamp gleam on the subterranean depths of American life, underneath the bright, glossy, plastic-coated, corporate branded, 900 channel surface.

Too few Americans recognized themselves in the abandoned and deceased citizens in Katrina NOLA--
this time, will more look into the shocked and betrayed faces of the coal-mining families of West Virginia and bear witness to what their country has become?

And thanks for noticing my "PopcornSmileyIndustry" comment!

I was real proud of that one,
but I knew its brilliance was gonna gonna go mostly unrecognized.

Speaking of 'unrecognized', here's a thought:

If you keep using 'Minimo', I could easily find a lawyer
who would file a 'Class Action' suit on behalf of all DUers,
charging you with FRAUD.

False Advertising, Deliberate Misrepresentation...
just Legalese for: "you are a great big FIBBER".

'Omega MAXIMUS' is closer to the truth.
That 'minimo' handle ain't foolin' nobody, hon.

While not a sitcom about a crazed racist, I always had the vague idea of wanting to do a theatre piece based on the transcripts - some morose, gloomy work with just Nixon and Kissinger on stage... Nixon disintegrating and rambling idiocy about his imaginary enemies... Hard to cast though, you'd probably get over the top parody and goofy impersonations.

i have a book,' "From: The President," which is about 400 pages of nothing but memos among white house staff during the Nixon years. to Nixon, from him, and all among his top aides: erlichman, haldeman, colson, kissinger etc.
nothing shattering there except it makes clear (shades of Bush!) how obsessively considered EVERYTHING to be political....right down to his daughters' hairstyle, their talking points at an 'impromptu' press opp. etc. and at the other extreme....severe boning of his opponents and repeated attempts to crucify the press, esp. tv news which he believed cost him the 1960 election...and his overarching fear of everything Kennedy.

so, yeah, i want in...

Excellent question, O.

Judging from the freepers I work with, the answer is a resounding NO.

It's dismissed with a "Well, mining is a dangerous business" as they turn back to their Gannett newspapers, Clear Channel Station or favorite Faux News outlet.

I work in a big mining state, although not in the same region as the mines.

These dolts are jealous of the money the miners make and think it justifies the loss of life.

Of course, money is everything to these Stepford husbands.

31. But for the money, they couldn't lure
But for the money/decent pay, they couldn't lure/trap enough people to take such risky jobs... hmmm. Who'ami kidding, these days enough people are desperate for any employment they'd still be in business. Though just because they can operate a mine (or any other business) with disregard to the health/safety of their employees doesn't mean they should be allowed to.

If there are no effective unions to demand safe working conditions, then the state or federal governments must step in. Alas, when those governments are controlled by RepubliCons, if any help is provided, it's merely an illusion. Indeed, for the worst safety violations, these mine operators were fined the big bucks! Yes sir, all of $250 bucks apiece. It's simple Republican economics then, a $250 fine vs $500 (or whatever) to correct the problem...

Their ultimate goal: a true dog-eat-dog society, where only the wealthy are safe, healthy and comfortable. The rest of us wage slaves therefore won't live long enough to become a burden on the much hated Social Security/Government Give-Away program. So, even if they can't abolish the New Deal, they can surely find other ways to destroy it. Just like they managed to make perfectly legal abortions practically impossible to obtain.

12. "Pornography is not made to educate, but to sell.
and, for the most part, what sells in a sexist society is a bunch of lies about women and sex. Women are portrayed as enjoying being raped, spanked, or beaten; tied up, mutilated, or enslaved; or they accept it as their lot as women to be victims of such experiences. In the less sadistic films, women are portrayed as turned on and sexually satisfied by doing anything and everything that men order them to do, and what this involves is for the most part totally contrary to what we know about female sexuality; that is, it is almost totally penis-oriented, often devoid of 'foreplay', tenderness, or caring, to say nothing of love and romance."

"If we judged earthlings on the basis of what they have done with television. we'd just blow up the planet and have done with it. How they invented it when they did, I'll never know. They certainly were not READY for it. How a culture can expose their young to such - such - "
He was so upset that he couldn't finish his sentence. Instead he made a gesture with no exact Earth equivalent. The closest translation my implant could provide was something like 'I spit in deep disgust upon your decision to play in your own garbage.'
Only the last word wasn't garbage." Bruce Coville My Teacher Flunked the Planet p. 44

Perhaps you could list some counter examples. Perhaps you could list your top five beneficial movies, or some of the best magazines or books. I found Robert Rimmer to be quite good, but it would be very surprising if class outsold dissolution in the pornography "industry" since great art always outsells fluff in all other human industries. :sarcasm: More Americans have seen "American Pie" than have seen a work of Shakespeare, have they not?

Having been in the book business myself where I made a conscious effort to provide better books, I still am not sure if I sold more literature than I did crapola.

Top Selling Porn Doesn't Objectify Women
Source: Free Speech X-press
by: Kat Sunlove

(QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA) -- A research study on the "objectification of women" in adult entertainment has been published in the prestigious Journal of Sex Research.

Queensland University of Technology researcher Alan McKee measured the degree to which women are treated as objects or playthings in mainstream adult entertainment videos in Australia, using the best-selling 50 videos as samples and asking graduate students to code scenes based on 12 measurement criteria.

The results show that women are not objectified more than men in the genre (virtually all of which is American product).

52. not much at the link
except alot of scantily clad busty women in ads, and two ads for BDSM. Is this proving your point?

Also, note that the study said that women are not more objectified than men, which is hardly a ringing endorsment. Just means, perhaps, that it is equal opportunity degradation, that in the industry a "man" is basically a life support system for an erect penis.

But I am speculating in the dark, simply name one movie or one magazine that I, and my ilk, might find edifying or even just entertaining. Are you saying that it typically involves love, romance, tenderness and foreplay?

"eyes of desire" is a decent movie from a few years ago.

"prirates" one of this years big budget movies was decent.

"Space Nuts" was funny -- Randy Spears should get his own sitcom.

I could go on and name several Vivid, Wicked and Adam & Eve releases this year that cater to the couples market.

All entertainment is to some degree "objectifying".

51. Obscenity? Obscenity?
Connie:
Welcome back. In our Los Angeles studio we have incumbent Democratic Senator Jay Bulworth of California. Good evening, Senator. Senator, why this new campaign style?
(long pause) Why this new manner of dress and speech... your ethnic manner of speech, your clothes...this use of obscenity?

Bulworth: (rapping...)
The rich is gettin' richer, an richer, an richer,
while the middle class is gettin' more poor.
Jus makin' billions and billions and billions and billions and billions and billions of bucks?
Well my friend, if ah, you weren't already rich at the start, that situation sucks.

'Cause the richest muthafucker in five of us
Is gettin' ninety-fuckin' eight percent of it.
And every other muthafucker in the world is left
to wonder where the fuck we went with it.
Obscenity?

Bulworth:
Obscenity? I'm a senator. I got to raise $10,000 a day every day I'm in Washington.

I ain't gettin' it in South Central,
I'm gettin' it in Beverly Hills.
So I'm votin' in the Senate
how they wanted me to
Then I been sendin' 'em my bills.

But we got babies in South Central
Dyin' as young as they do in Peru.
We got public schools that're nightmares,
we got a Congress that ain't got a clue.

We got kids with sub machine guns,
we got militias throwin' bombs.
We got Bill just gettin' all weepy,
we got Newt blamin' teenage Moms.

We got so many factories closin down,
Where'd hell all the good jobs go?
My contributors make more profits
Makin... makin... makin...
Hiring kids in Mexico.

Oh a brother can work in fast food,
If he can't invent computer games
But what we used to call America,
That's going down the drains.

How's a young man gonna meet his financial responsibilities
Workin' at a mutha fuckin' Burger King?
He ain't.
And PLEASE don't even start with that school shit.
There ain't no education goin' on up in that muthafucker.

Obscenity?
We got a million brothers in prison,
I mean the walls are really rockin'.
But you can bet your ass they'd all be out,
If they could pay for Johnnie Cochran.

The Constitution sposed to give 'em an equal chance
But that ain't gonna happen for sure.
Ain't it time to take a little from the rich mutha fucka
And just give a little to the poor?

Those gentlemen there on the monitor
(referring to all the 1996 presidential candidates)
They want the government smaller.
Weak.
They'll be speakin' for the richest 20 per cent,
While pretendin' they defendin' the meek.

Aww, shit, fuck, cocksucker.
That's the real obscenity black folks,
Livin' with everyday.
Is tryin' to believe a mutha fuckin' word the Democrats and Republicans say.

Bulworth: (standing)
Obscenity?
I'm Jay Billington Bulworth and I've come to say.
The Democratic Party has got same shit to pay.

They gonna pay it in the ghetto,
They gonna...

Connie:
Senator, are you saying the Democratic Party doesn't care about the African American community?

Bulworth: (sitting and picking up cup)
Isn't that obvious?
Some people say there're no black leaders anymore because
they all'got killed but I happen to think it's because of the decimation of the manufacturing base in the urban centers.

Bulworth:
Don't you think so?
What do you think my age is?

(The engineer gets instructed to pull the plug on the program and informs to Connie by way of her ear peice)

Engineer: He's had his time, Connie. Flush him.
(Connie gets the message)

Bulworth:
(lowering his speech)
You know the guy in the booth who's talkin' to you
On that tiny little earphone.
He's afraid the network
Gonna tell him he's through,
If he let's a guy keep talkin'
Like I'm talkin' to you.

Corporations got the networks
and so they get to say
Who gets to talk about the country,
who's not crazy today.

You better cut to a commercial
If you still want this job,
You might not be back tomorrow with this corporate mob.
Cut to commercial,
Cut to commercial...

Engineer: Flush him...

Bulworth:
Cut to commercial,
Cut to commercial.

O.K. I got a simple question that I'd like to ask,
For the network who pays you for performing this task.
How cum they got the airwaves?
They're the people's aren't they?

Wouldn't they be worth 70 billion to the public today
If a money grubbin' Congress didn't give 'em away
For big campaign money?
It's hopeless, you see.
If you rurmin' for office without no TV.
If you don't get big money you get a defeat.
Corporations and broadcasters make you dead meat.

Bulworth:
You been taught in this country
There's Speech that is free.
Well free will not get you no spots on TV.

Bulworth:
If you want to have Senators
Not on the take,
Then give them free air time,
They won't have to fake.

Bulworth:
Telecommunications is the name of the beast,
That's, that, that, that, that, that's eating the world from the West to the East.

The movies, the tabloids,. TV and magazines,
They tell us what to think and do
And make our hopes and dreams.

All this information makes America fat,
But if the company's out of the country,
How American is that?

Bulworth:
We got Americans with families
Can't even buy a meal.
Ask a brother who's been
Downsized, if he's gettn' any deal.

Bulworth:
Or a white boy bustin' ass,
Till they put him in his grave.
He ain't gotta be no black boy
To be livin' like a slave.

Bulworth:
Rich people've stayed on top, dividing white people from colored people. But white people've got more in Common with colored people than rich people. We're just gonna have to eliminate 'em.

Connie:
Eliminate?

Bulworth:
Eliminate.

Connie:
Who?
Rich people?

Bulworth:
White people.

Bulworth:
Black People, too.
Brown people,
Yellow people.
Get rid of 'em all.

Connie:
Get rid of them all?

Bulworth:
We need a voluntary, free Spirited,
compatible, open ended program of
procreative racial deconstruction.

Connie:
Uh...

Bulworth:
Everybody just got to keep fucking everybody
till we're all the same color.

Bulworth: (he leans forward and picks up the coffee) It's gonna take a while but...

(A light CRASHES to the ground near Jay. He puts down the cup and looks around)

Connie: (startled)
Thank you, Senator Bulworth.
We'll return with former Governor Lamar Alexander after this message.

I kill millions of sperm when I send them flying to their deaths each time I partake of porn.

Of course, we all know that everytime you masturbate, God kills a kitten.
