It seems to me that Congress can go ahead and go back to work |
|
at the usual time rather than waiting until January 31st. Remember they were delaying (yes, I meant it as the pun that it is) the start of the congressional session to give Tom Delay (R-Shit Creek) a chance to clear his "good name". It ain't gonna happen, not now, not ever, so the Congresscritters can just get their asses back to work and while they're at it, they'd best be getting themselves a new House Majority Leader, preferably someone who didn't take Abramoff money, if there is such a Republican creature.

1. I'm not in any hurry... |

... for them to go "back to work." What the House has done, especially since 1994, is cause considerable damage. The longer they stay away, the less damage they do to the country. Let `em have a long, long vacation. That way, Bush would have many fewer bad bills to sign while he's on vacation.

is back in town and he did a buttload of recess appointments today. How many more do you think he could squeeze in before Jan. 31st?

5. The Senate is responsible for approving appointments... |
|
... not the House.
Cheers.

... "teach me not to write without thinking." :)
Every one, even the best of writers, more often than not, need editors. :)
Cheers.

9. There are two ways of phrasing that one |
|
though they both mean the same thing. And yes, I definitely need an editor most of the time.

2. Newt Gingrich agrees with you. |
|
That's not an insult, believe it or not. And it's really not appropriate for the crooks to take a vacation with the Constitutional crisis and all. http://nytimes.com/2006/01/05/politics/05delay.html?hp&ex=1136523600&en=3900c5fb298c1bbd&ei=5094&partner=homepage

10. I've occasionally heard somewhat reasonable things |
|
out of the mouth of Buchanan (granted, it always floors me) but I can't say as I've ever heard anything sane out of Newt "Contract on America" Gingrich.

It's an optical illusion, of course.
