7. For it is written...
ONLY SO MUCH OIL IN THE GROUND (Kupka/Castillo)

There is only so much oil in the ground,
sooner or later there won't be much around
Tell that to your kids while you're driving 'round downtown
that there's only so much oil in the ground

We can't cut loose without that juice
You can't cut loose without that juice
If we keep on like we're doing
things for sure will not be cool
It's a fact, we just ain't got sufficient fuel

'Cause there's only so much oil in the ground
sooner or later there won't be none around
Alternate sources of power must be found,
cause there's only so much oil in the ground

Yes, there's only so much oil in the earth,
it's a fact of life, for what it's worth
Something every little girl and boy should know from birth,
that there's only so much oil in the earth

8. Hey, good choice in music. I posted this once myself. By the way,
when can we officially start calling this a civil war? I know, according to those who see themselves as an authority on all things political, that they keep 'predicting' that a civil war will start. But see, I'm stupid and I think that it's started quite some time ago.

But that's just me.

10. You do realize that finite oil is an incorrect theory?
Oil is in fact natural and "renewable" (renewable in the sense that the earth's core is constantly producing more) and, contrary to popular opinion, does not come from dead dinosaurs and plants....although, I'm sure this is what you remember from grade school.

17. It's not a "bait"
Looking up some geological articles to "prove" what I'm saying is true...give me some time, though...I'm not on my "normal" computer here...

19. Link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenic_petroleum_origin

A quick quote:

Geological facts collected from all petroleum-prone basins testify that geologically oil and gas fields were formed very rapidly that contradicts that very protracted period of organic rocks maturation and stadial hydrocarbon migration predicted by bio-organic concept. It is a fundamental observation and main geological contradiction to the conventional bio-organic model.

22. Cool...
If that's true, expect to see Halliburton start fracking pumped out wells with atom bombs. They will wring out every drop of oil they can get, whatever it takes. The odd thing is, that if the Russians are so smart, why haven't they the skills to develop their deep oil deposits? They are cutting the US in on the big Russian oil boom, because they lack the skills and the equipment to get at the vast deep oil deposits. Outfits like Halliburton can move into the old pumped out Russian oil fields unplug the old pumped out shallow wells and drill on down to the mother lode. Then there's the Caspian basin where even the shallow deposits still remain largely untapped.

I hope you're right. The fact that the biggest oil deposits are found much deeper underground could mean that Kudryavtsev's theory is correct. My question then would be, how long would it take the depleted deposits to replenish, or to reacumulate? It took the deep deposits we are tapping into now millions of years to form, wherever the oil came from, that's a long time to sit at the pumps and wait for the POL truck...

24. How can the earths core "produce" hydrocarbons? The earh's core
is molten nickel/iron, the mantle is molten silicon. Carbon is the basis for life forms on this planet, whether plant or animal; silicon, iron and nickel cannot support life as we know it.

Even if the earth "produced" as you state, we are far outpacing in consumption what the "earth's core" could possibly produce. There is nothing of science in the link, and a whole lot of questionable theory.

This earth will run out of oil, that is a fact, by then, we had better have more viable and seriously less environmentally damaging sources of energy.

23. Utter and complete bullshit.
Absolutely scientifically unsupportable, and only trolled out by people who want to prevent oil conservation as long as possible to maximize their profits.

An utter lie.

9. bush to have pow wow this AM to "take advice" on Iraq
Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 07:34 AM by leftchick
Like he actually takes advice...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060105/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush

WASHINGTON - President Bush is pressing ahead with a public relations offensive on Iraq, bringing a bipartisan group of former secretaries of defense and state to the White House for give-and-take on the unpopular military mission.

Gen. George Casey, the top American commander in Iraq, and Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad, were joining the president Thursday to give a detailed briefing on Iraq to more than a dozen foreign policy leaders from previous administrations.

The hope was that the prominent figures would be persuaded by the Bush administration's argument that it has "a clear plan in place for victory in Iraq" and spread the word, said White House press secretary Scott McClellan.

20. Travel Disclaimer:
As you enjoy your wonderful trip in Iraq, please remember that all women are to be covered up and are only to be seen in public when escorted by a man. Not to worry! This is only for your protection. We do not want you to get a sunburn, thus the cover up rule. Also, the American woman, known for her intelligence and independence, is such a desired treasure among Iraqi men that the rule on escorts is simply meant to cut down on all the attention you will receive! Enjoy your trip.
