Kucinich Says He Wants Truth About Deaths Of 3/25 Marines

Congressman Asks Marines To Declassify Report On August Killings

CLEVELAND -- Last August, 20 Marines from the Brook Park-based 3rd Battalion 25th Marines were killed in Iraq. Six snipers were killed on Aug. 1 by Iraqi insurgents, and 14 more Marines were killed two days later when their assault vehicle was blown up.

In an exclusive report, NewsChannel5 learned from the father of one of the fallen Marines that the members of the 3/25 were betrayed by Iraqis working with U.S. forces not once, but twice.

NewsChannel5's Adam Shapiro reported that the Marines investigated the killings, and have a classified report detailing what happened.

Dennis Kucinich learned the information from the 5 On Your Side report, he was furious, Shapiro reported.

While northeast Ohio buried the fallen Marines last summer, Kucinich was trying to get answers about how they died.

After viewing NewsChannel5's investigation about whether Iraqi security forces betrayed the Marines, Kucinich issued a statement, saying, "I will use all my power to ensure that the families and loved ones of those killed get the whole truth about what happened."

<...>

Kucinich, who was briefed by the Marines about the incident in September, said, "I am greatly concerned that important and relevant information regarding these attacks was apparently not shared with me during this briefing."

Kucinich has written a letter to the Marine Corps, asking that the Aug. 1 report be declassified. He told NewsChannel5 that the report was finished on Sept. 1, but when he was briefed on Sept. 7, he was not given the information from that report.

1. This government can't tell the truth about anything!
why would anyone trust a word they say?

Lima company has already suffered so much

Nothing is getting better in Iraq, nor will it ever. They tell us a whole 750 Iraqi troops can function on their own, and now it looks like the Iraqi police force that we have been counting on taking over so we can leave have actually been turning on American troops and the government is trying to hide it.

Thanks again to Dennis Kucinich for fighting for the truth!

5. Holy shit Sherlock. Betrayed by Iraqis?? No Way.....Kucinich buys a clue

Of course we're being betrayed by the Iraqis. It makes as much since as if hours after WWII the American troops decided to start arming Nazi soldiers and training them. Of course a few are going to be die-hard constituents who are only trying to kill Americans.

Thank goodness we have Kucinich to at least bring the subject up to the public, but why the hell did it take this long!!? This is pretty much common sense if you ask me. A fourth grader could have told you this would happen. Oh well, it's just par for the course.

8. Par for the course in that we have to rely on a handful of Congressionals
to stand up to the stupidity of the Republican party.

Oh, I know Kucinich is against the war and fights hard to end it, but this is old news of us being betrayed by the Iraqis and I don't recall major campaigns for the truth in this matter from Kucinich or any other Representative. Please enlighten me if I am wrong.

7. Facts now coming out
There was a recent news story that some of the family members were getting information about this.

The Marines killed were from a unit in Kucinich's district.
