Washing their hands of the monies from Abramoff

Many of the politicians who took the money are now giving a like amount to charities. It's not the exact same money, just the same amount received. How will they now justify taking it in the 1st place? Will they declare they've seen the error of their ways and promise to never ever do it again?(Like that would really happen LOL)

The 'but I did give the money to charity eventually, so I'm in the clear now' just doesn't cut it with me.

2. Just think what the government would take if it were drug money

The government would take their cars their houses and all their cash in their bank accounts. they would use RICO or any other law that would allow the government to steal all their property and justify saying it was all illegally gained. Why are these criminals treated any differently?

4. That money has left a stain on their hands

that cannot wash off. They are donating some of the money to charity which on the surface looks good, but keeps the money from the tribes. So they have screwed the tribes a second time. If they gave the money back to Abramoff's accounts, the tribes could sue for it's return. Who would want to sue the American Heart Association? The tribes get nothing in return, again.

I don't know if they are. Is that why the moneies are going to 'charity of their choice?

7. I don't know, but it seems like it ought to go somewhere besides

a charity of their choice first. Also, do these people get tax write offs for their donations? Just curious.
