1. I'm not watching but it sounds like...
It's somebody associated with that "study" that has been debunked already. It basically was some supposedly neutral and unbiased study that used some calculations to show that the media leaned liberal.

5. I remember getting that from a winger.
... on aborther message board. He went on and on at how it was "Non-Partisan" which set off red flags for me. I can't recall the group's name, but this "Non-Partisan" media study group is funded by the usual suspects IIRC...

Olin
Bradley
Mellon-Skaife
Hoover Inst.
etc.

2. They're referencing a bogus "study" put out by a wingnut
professor at UCLA who used Pox News as his benchmark for centrism. His baseline was skewed to the far right, his sampling was flawed, and his conclusions were baseless. He relied heavily on anecdote and produced few hard figures.

Stick to FAIR. They do real studies.

4. WJ is so rightwing now.
Earlier this morning I was watching the news guy tell us that the Abramoff scandal was bipartisan.. even though he said that Abramoff had never contributed a dime to the Democrats, and that the only money the Dems got was from the tribes. What's illegal about that? Patty Murray said she wasn't returning her money because she got it from the tribes, not Abramoff.

This is NOT a bipartisan scandal... but the spin is relentless. Ughhh.

19. Well, the ACLU IS conservative
meaning that in the true, conservative way . . . defending EVERYBODY'S constitutional freedoms . . . including GOP head of Summit County Alex Arshinkoff, the KKK, Rush Limbaugh, etc. . . .

9. THEY define what's Liberal, Centrist and Conservative...
Then they rate people from one to ten. Anybody can make up a scale like that and claim bias. It's more RW spin.

10. Wrong question, again.
The individual reporters often have no influence of what gets covered or how it gets edited. We need a survey over the political leanings and political contributions of the owners of the media. Now that would be an eye-opener.

21. Here's My Equivalent To This Nut's Study
My terms are simple. Anyone to the right of John McCain is a Nazi. Now, my statistics indicate that 90% of conservative columnists, radio and tv hosts, and all but 2 republicans in congress are Nazis. See how simple that was.

Hey, that is as equally valid and unbiased as this idiot's study. That is to say, that neither study is worth the time it would take to read it.

Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 10:59 AM by NI4NI
and thought what total nonsense and a 3 year waste of California taxpayer money. Study never took into account the accuracy of any item that they included in their survey. Some people just hate hearing truthful news reporting that counters their veiwpoint so they immediately label it as liberal bias.

24. There Is No Evidence It Was Peer Reviewed Either
The Journal Of Econometrics does not require peer review prior to publication. It's a vanity press magazine for folks who must publish or perish. It is certainly not JUSE, or any equivalent in the social sciences that only publish peer reviewed works.

What a fucking shock! C-Span has sunk so low, what the hell is left?
