Talking points for Abramoff clients giving Democrats money

Don't know if this was posted before - and I cannot take credit for it.....read it somewhere on Dailykos.

1. democrats never recieved one single dime from Abramoff personally - not one dime.

2. This is the lobbyist who has worked for decades to promote a one party rule and declared democrats enemies.

3. It is no wonder that CLIENTS of Abramoff gave money to the democrats. They were being TOTALLY and COMPLETELY screwed over by Abramoff and the GOP. They are the victims. It is no sin for the victims to find a voice in government....

2. I think the whole issue of donations is misleading

It's the issue of bribes, of stealing money and laundering it with these fake charities, to support the Republican machine.

5. Yes. Also the Congressmen who are targets took illegal gifts

from Abramoff, in the form of free travel, free meals, free access to luxury sky boxes at sporting events, etc.

3. Even Air America's news gets it wrong

The just had a news item saying the Abramoff scandal doesn't just hurt Republicans because Democrats "took money from him too". Reporting a pollster's comments without any kind of context or clarification...bad journalism.

4. Ask the questions from the point of view of the Tribes and get some

answers:

1. Did you give money to Abramoff? If Yes:

2. Did you understand that it would go to Republicans only?
If yes:
a. Are you aware from bank records that some went to Democrats anyway?
b. If yes - if some went to Democrats anyway, are you in agreement with that and what did it go for - a project benefiting all people on a reservation or a project benefiting casinos only?

3. Did you understand that it would go to Democrats only?
If no - why would Democrats be excluded?

4. Did you understand that it would go the Republicans and Democrats evenly?
a. If yes - do your bank records reflect that?
b. If no - if you didn't expect the funds to be distributed evenly, why would you agree to that and are you in agreement with the distribution?

5. Did you understand that it would go to Republican and Democrats unevenly?
a. If yes - why did you agree to imbalance?
b. If yes - do your bank records reflect the imbalance?
c. If yes - are you in agreement with the imbalance?
d. If yes - what did you expect from the imbalance or was it because only Abrahoff came forward with a proposal?
e. If yes - if Democrats took money - what did you get in exchange and was it for a specific project on a reservation benefiting all people or a project benefiting the casinos?

Why not hold the Tribes responsibile for the truth as well?

The problem is that the answers can all be different depending on the Tribe.

Ladies and Gentlemen - we are learning about the inner workings of our country whether we wanted to or not. In the end, it will be good for the country, if we survive.

The Tribes are equally responsible for the truth and some of them should speak out to the degree they can without meddling from anyone and without mangling by the press.
