Where is the press? Why are they not hammering Cheney over his bullshit announcement that the insurgency is in it's 'last throes'.

BAGHDAD, Jan. 5 - Two new suicide bombings rocked Iraq today, killing at least 100 in attacks at a shrine in the Shiite city of Karbala and a police recruiting station in the Sunni city of Ramadi.

A suicide bombing at a shrine in the Shiite city of Karbala killed 52 people, Iraqi police said.

Preliminary reports from Iraqi police said that 52 people were killed and 64 were wounded in Karbala, south of Baghdad.
Also today, five American soldiers were killed when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device while operating in the Baghdad region, the American military said.

1. Democrats looking good
These reports should make the Democrats look better all of the time. Be patient. It will resonate with the voters.

4. You are the only person on this board that would cheer the deaths
in Iraq as a harbinger of Dem. victories.

6. Not the only person
It pisses me off anytime I see someone happy when a suicide bomber kills alot of people in Iraq and start talking about it leading the mid term victories.

7. Not quite.
The deaths are not being cheered, per se, but as a continuing tangible sign of the disastrous mistakes and criminality of this administration. These elements of criminality and incompetence (and criminal incompetence) are costing American lives every day, and destroying whatever shreds of respect any others in the world might have felt towards "us." Besides which, the soldiers in Iraq -- contrary to their sworn oath to comply with the provisions of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) -- have chosen to follow the illegal orders of the Bush administration in waging aggressive war on a nation that posed no credible threat to the US.

My sympathy for the troops is also somewhat limited by the knowledge that should there be civil unrest in this country, Bush/Cheney will not hesitate in using military/paramilitary forces to quell any such activity. They've done it already with municipal police forces against protesters, in violation of the 1st Amendment.

5. 60 civilians yesterday. 5 Marines today.....
The civil war started the day we entered Iraq. It's been really hard to watch the daily death and destruction over there and know that your own country is directly responsible.

People would be outraged. We have been trained to think that only American lives count.
