anybody else notice this? You can no longer zoom in as close as you previously could.

1. I have noticed this
I thought it was just certain areas, but even my own house, which I've gotten in close on before, doesn't get that close anymore. I wonder why.

4. Do you live next to a top secret installation of some kind?

(I heard Google Earth was feeling heat from governments for showing too much detail.)

Are you sure you know who that is that lives across the street?

25. LOL - Yes, because there are no houses or structures across the
street from me. Just a berm with trees and a wall, a sidewalk and grass.

6. Dont think so. Just fired it up, and theres new high-res imaging of
Area 51.

Maybe you just found a glitch. I can't see them making residential areas blurry on purpose, but leaving Area 51 in high res (which it never was in before. :)

29. This proves my point
If you try to zoom in at the top two notches toward the plus sign, you just get repeated copy telling you to zoom out further, that you can't zoom in this far.

You just can't zoom in as close as you used to be able to.

15. Seems they added two new clicks to the scale, but not the picture.
Does that make sense? The resolution scale now stops where they have the 200' scale, and there are two more clicks, a 100' scale and a 50' scale. I know I never saw anything at that 50' scale and I don't think I ever saw anything at that 100' scale.

I think they changed the resolution control, but did not add any more resolution to the photos. maybe thats coming.

go to www.google.com and type in "Miserable Failure" and hit the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. :D

It's been like that since shrub took office.

And I agree about Google Earth. It's an amazing program. I really like how they are modeling out the major cities in 3d. :)

32. Nice Find! Check out the "boneyard"
There are a few experimental planes sitting there rotting in the sun.

Start at Tuscon Arizona, and go South East until you see the words: "Talk about an AIRFORCE"

The boneyard. The airforce graveyard for decommissioned planes. Some experimental planes are there and ppl have labeled them. :)

Cool stuff.

35. I actually saw one of those SR-71's fly over me once
many, many moons ago back in Colorado. It had made an unscheduled stop at a nearby air base. It was the coolest looking thing in the world....like something that had flown out of the future. My gob was indeed smacked.

31. Sigh.

I wouldn't know, it never worked for me. Seems everyone with a map application these days is writing broken, crappy code.

Oh for the days before MapBlast got bought and then utterly trashed and broken. They had satellite photos working seamlessly side by side with road maps. Why'd they have to go ruin it? I'd say it was the worst developer-caused website tragedy ever, but I'm afraid AMG has the crown in that regard. Then again, at least AMG mostly works, even if it does take a minute per page load even on cable modems.

I pine for a day when they fire all these boobs writing web software these days.
