This Rush fellow sounds just like an old DJ Jeff Christie who was arrested
in Pittsburgh in the early 70s for soliciting sex and was subsequently fired from his job there.

Amazing how similar their voices are.

10. Snopes.com says Limbaugh was Jeff Christie in the 70s.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/quotes/limbaugh.asp

"...at the beginning of his broadcast career back in the early 1970s when he was hosting a Top 40 music show under the name "Jeff Christie" on either WIXZ or KQV in Pittsburgh."

11. From Wikipedia.....Jeff and Rush are the same!!!!!!
1970s

After dropping out of Southeast Missouri State University and getting his draft waiver, he moved to Pittsburgh and became a Top 40 music radio disc jockey on station WIXZ.

In October 1972, he moved to KQV, using the name Jeff Christie. It was in Pittsburgh that many of Limbaugh's trademarks developed, such as a claim to use a "golden microphone." (which eventually became true in the 1990s on The Rush Limbaugh Show) After several years in music radio, Limbaugh took a break from radio and accepted a position as director of promotions with the Kansas City Royals baseball team.

"Larry inspired and left his imprint on a young David Letterman. A lesser disc jockey named Jeff Christie challenged me to “dump LuJack and hire me.

I explained he probably would never be talented enough to be a disc jockey on WLS. His audition tape wasn't all that good as he tried to copy Lujack. Twenty years later, he would be heard on WLS as a talk show host named Rush Limbaugh, who had copied much of Lujack's original concept."

19. Funny story:
I grew up, like most kids in Chicagoland, listening to WLS, where Larry Lujack ("Jeff's" inspiration) was the top DJ.

Once Larry Lujack came and spoke to an assembly at my high school. He was very unassuming, saying "We all know that people only listen to AM in their cars" and such things. Kids kept peppering him with questions about his supposedly ultra-cool lifestyle, which he deflected, saying "I'm everything you don't want me to be."

One loud-mouth kid (okay, it was me) blurted out, "Are you gay?" which brought a big laugh from Larry and everyone else. (Please believe me that in this context, no one took it to be a mean-spirited or homophobic remark.)

Looks like I asked the wrong DJ.

It was still an unenlightened time re homosexuality. Of course, it can easily seem even more regressive now.

22. I've never seen definitive proof...
...of the sex act or the solicitation.

Rush is very definitely Jeff Christie, and his website or his network (I don't recall exactly where I saw it) admits it. God knows I want the sex/solicitation story to be true, but I've never seen the proof of that aspect of this story.

With that caveat, however, keep running it. I don't mind bashing Rush, no matter how thin the grounds, given that his MO is pretty much the same.

24. Well, folks from Pitt say that Christie was fired for lewd conduct and so
far no one has come forward with any other reason for his firing.

So, Rush is welcome to try and explain his firing back then, isn't he?

28. Here's more on his Pitt days
http://user.pa.net/~ejjeff/christie.html

Rush getting ready to devour a child

Yes, Jeff Christie is Rush Limbaugh !

Jeff Christie was at KQV twice in the early seventies. Jeff originally came to Pittsburgh to work at WIXZ. He came to KQV to do nights in 1972. A number of the phrases we still hear on his Rush Limbaugh show today on more than 600 stations "all across the fruited plain" were heard when he was on KQV. You can hear a sample of Jeff's work during the 14K days at the Reel Top 40 Radio Archives. He returned for a short time during KQV's final days of top 40 filling in middays before moving on to Kansas City. Rush Limbaugh's EIB network came from a term he used here in Pittsburgh in the early seventies. EIB = Excellence In Broadcasting

38. There's a bio out apparently...

...that recognizes that there were rumors of the gay pandering arrest, but no proof. Now if an author didn't turn it up they were either utterly negligent or it won't be too easy to find. Knowing what his legal name was at the time, and a visit on foot to Pittsburg public records office might be worth the shot, but don't be dissappointed if the trail has been covered.

In any case, if anyone comes up with something, be careful it's not a "rather" dubious document.

And I've only been here since Spring 2004.

Look, he has acknowledged that he worked under the name Jeff Christie while in Pittsburgh. That's not any secret.

I won't speak for trumad, but what I would say is there are plenty of ways to discredit Limbaugh rather than rumors that have NEVER been confirmed.

44. Rush's "missing years"
After the incident reported above, he landed a job at WRVQ-94 FM in Richmond, Virginia from about 1974-1976. His professional name then was "Dr. Rock", spelled in a promotional flyer as "Dr. Jacques Roque." (Golly, that's FRENCH, ain't it? And Jock Rock?! Paging Dr. Freud!) He kept a low profile, rarely making public appearances (his photo was a silhouette in that flyer).

I remember him. He had a great voice. Too bad he used his powers for evil.

Nothing earth shattering here, just putting this out for people who remember him from that time.
