Prediction: Bush is going to cut and run
Just like he said the democrats wanted to do. He is going to bail out of Iraq in the near future; a full retreat to consolidate his dwindling power. The Iraqi police will not and never could do anything to stop the civil war already underway. It will be a repeat of Vietnam only Iraq will go down quicker. It will cost about 1/2 to a trillion dollars.

PS. The price of gold will skyrocket.

Maybe, just maybe the US will try to develop alternatives to fossil fuels as that industry loses power.

8. The reality is that the US cannot conquer these countries. Iran
blustering is all BS. It simply cannot be done. They may bomb the shit out of the place after they've invested in the munitions industry, but wars of conquest as we have known them are obsolete.

Thank goodness.

thought you were predicting he would give up the presidency (I can dream, can't I!)....

You had me there...

23. He won't unless he can get immunity from prosecution. Like Nixon being
pardoned by Ford. This is alot worse than Watergate though.

Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 11:40 PM by xray s
He is crazy and thinks God wants him to occupy the entire mid east.

He will destroy the US. And the lazy American public and their corrupt politicians are just going to sit back and let it happen.

11. Nixon went into Cambodia and then turned and ran. This will happen
quicker though in Iraq. There might be a stab at another country, but what good will it do if Iraq is not stabilized? It seems that Bush will get everybody in Congress against him if he gets any crazier.

Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 11:55 PM by xray s
They are corrupt liars and frauds. Their hands are soaked in blood, clutching bloody hundred dollar bills handed out by the likes of Jack Abramoff.

They will join in the destruction of the America. They are pigs and traitors.

19. They don't care about America. They hate America
They probably have their private compounds in the Caribbean all ready to go with their Blackwater guards and stashes of gold.

And Malaysian teens in cells waiting to be raped.

Bastards.

I can't wait until America's Most Wanted exposes all of these child kidnappings and what happened to them. The child sex rings will be traced back to Saudi Arabia and BCCI.

I think he'll stay and use Iraq to attack Iran. (and to protect the oil pipelines conveniently located next to the U.S. bases).

13. Those bases were part of a plan put in place before
the insurgency was part of the equation. It is all going to be lost. Without a functioning government (read: one that can keep the peace)in Iraq US casualties will continue to mount and may even a experience a Khe San or Dien Bien Phu. The public is never going to like this war more than it does now.

12. I agree, but I'd like to add one thing.
First, he'll declare victory, then he'll cut and run. Mission accoplished, god bless 'Murika, let's get the troops home. The question is, will the public buy it?

15. Notice how Jim Murtha sort of said this. "We've done the job, let's
bring the troops home". The problem is that Bush has characterized success as bringing stability and democracy to Iraq.

24. Not to worry.... he already found himself a new playground:
He has extended his "War on Terra" for the next 5 years- in many African countries

U.S. takes terror fight to Africa's 'Wild West'
Critics say Saharan plan backs despots, is magnet for trouble

Abidjan, Ivory Coast -- The U.S. government will spend $500 million over five years on an expanded program to secure a vast new front in its global war on terrorism -- the Sahara Desert.

But critics say the region is not a terrorist zone, as some senior U.S. military officers assert, and they warn that a heavy-handed military and social campaign that reinforces authoritarian regimes in North and West Africa could fuel radicalism where it scarcely exists.

27. I believe this....
that African-Americans will not fight in Africa - it would be bad for this nation; our history, our race relations would not support an African conflict.

28. I wonder if the Soviets knew what hit them in 1978...
Did they sit around wondering where all this terror was coming from and if thier government could keep them safe from the Muslim terra we were fueling in Afghanistan. I wonder if they so cheaply rolled over on the ideals they believed in as easliy as we have turned. I'm not a fan of Communism but the common man rarely has a choice when they are born into the society. Were the Russians evil or was it just thier government? Was thier government evil or did they just hate us for fueling terror? Since we get to write the history, I guess we'll never know for sure.

25. Oh for sure
Aren't they already talking about it under the covers so to speak? You know they'll pull something and have a "Mission Accomplished part two" and probably do airstrikes like they did (illegally) before they went in "officially."

Bush doesn't even have a choice in the matter. This is all about Rumsfeld and a permanent occupation of the Middle East.

33. Totally against his nature
he is never wrong, he acts on his gut and his gut is never wrong, and God is telling him he is right and not to worry about the polls cuz he will be judged as great in history. That - is Ws nature, his thinking, and what the sycophants around him tell him, and what those who want to manipulate him into particular actions tell him.

Sadly I just can not see him leaving Iraq. He is stubborn as a mule and as self-righteous in his "rightness" as Pat Robertson.
