Rep. Murtha (Hero) Responds to Gen. putz Pace's recruiting remarks....
:loveya:

<snip>

"They're trying to direct attention away from their problems," said Murtha, D-Pa., a decorated Marine Corps veteran who has become a leading voice in Congress advocating an early withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.

Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said during a news conference Thursday that Murtha's remarks about Iraq are damaging to troop morale and to the Army's efforts to bring up recruitment numbers. Pace, the nation's top general, was asked specifically about an ABC News interview this week in which Murtha, 73, said if he were eligible to join the military today he would not join, nor would he expect others to join.

<snip>

In a statement released Thursday, Murtha said: "The military had no problem recruiting directly after 9/11 because everyone understood that we had been attacked. But now the military's ability to attract recruits is being hampered by the prospect of prolonged, extended and repeated deployments, inadequate equipment, shortened home stays, the lack of any connection between Iraq and the brutal attacks of 9/11, and — most importantly — the administration's constantly changing, undefined, open-ended military mission in Iraq."

Later Thursday, Murtha said he's spoken with military leaders and "they're frustrated by their mission."

1. The recruitments has been low way before Murtha's comment.
Low recruitments are due to a failed administrations policy.

2. Bravo! Wonderful response!
Don't take any shit from these guys and call them on their bullshit.

Murtha is simply stating the obvious. Pace is spinning (and he knows it).

3. Spot the media propaganda....
"advocating an early withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq."

Early?

I'm pretty damn sure neither Murtha or anyone else who advocates a withdrawl has EVER called it "early".

By using that word, the "reporter" has implanted in the mind of the reader that the withdrawl being advocated is BEFORE the withdrawl should actually take place, thus painting the whole idea as premature and therefore wrong.

Gotta love that "liberal" media!

5. he has never said withdrawal to my knowledge either
He has been very careful to say "redeploy out of the theater". I wish he would say withdraw them all home but it is a start.

4. I'm glad he struck back
I just heard the Pace comments this morning and he sounds like a snake oil salesman.
Mutha didn't hurt the morale. It is the war without end that involves National Guard troops that should be serving back here stateside. The entire war is against American beliefs of setting a good example to others(high road) and not initiating a war with others who have done nothing to us.
Pace is a shill for the neocons.
mmhmm bombing is good. :silly:
:nuke:
