I just read Confessions of an Economic Hitman
It occurred to me that what they have done is precisely what they did and are doing all over the world for decades. Running up outrages debt so that the country is bankrupt, leaving their option for all things being privatized by their select few corporations.
I read last night that China is slowing down buying our debt, they are still talking about making tax cuts permanent. Nothing slows this administration down for destroying the country permanently.
Through most of my life I was naive, I took things at face value to an extent. The past 5yrs has become so blatantly obvious of their complete disregard for all of us, I can now see what their true motives are. It is one big sucking beast, from the top to the bottom devouring anything in their sight for financial gain. I have often wondered how supposedly educated people could make such disastrous mistakes in foreign policy, in not understanding other cultures and ways of life and the repercussions of their invasions. It is done by design, they would call it controlled chaos I suppose, people and the planet are irrelevant, they had one objective, with their select few construction, banking institutions and energy companies to take over the world.
What they have done in the US is what they have done everywhere else for decades. I am terrified and so sad...

3. I'm anxious to read it too, as well as "Creature from Jekyll
Island" to see how the Federal Reserve controls us.

4. That is a FANTASTIC book and I'm still hanging my head in shame.
How could I have been so naive? I'm SO shamed of my country.:( And I'm so ashamed I didn't know what they were doing until the year 2000 and I started paying attention. Is there ANY WONDER why we're so hated???! I'm surprsied countries haven't joined forces to blow us off the face of the earth. Honestly.:scared:

5. Yes -- The Horror Of That Struck Me As Well
I haven't read the book, however I saw Amy Goodman interview Perkins about a year ago, and he described the phenomenon of the economic hitman. Sure, it's god-awful that US corporations in concert with the US government would rape third-world countries the way they do. But the final step is to realize that is exactly what they're doing to the United States and what this means for the future.

Most people I try to explain this to, especially those with assets such as a home and portfolio -- in other words, with a stake in the current system -- simply don't want to understand. It's odd how wealth skews our perspective. However, younger folks with nothing to lose financially, who don't watch TV news, easily grasp what's happening.

Where does this lead? No place good. No place good at all. Even the best-case scenarios in the context of peak oil and fiat-currency expansion are starkly sobering. There's an awful lot that our government is not telling us. I believe it's what is behind the curtailment of civil liberties, spying, and move toward totalitarian government. This is going to be a hell of a ride.
