A'moff tainted money to, are not corrupt institutions? I ask this because one of Mr. Abramoff many schemes that the AG (Alice Fischer) alluded to in the big announcement earlier this week is that he had a few "Shady Charities" set up in his "Shady Empire"

I find it hard to believe that this/He would be an isolated incident.

It sounds sorta of good on the surface to be donating the tainted $$ to Charities, but you all know how these people work, I wouldn't put it past them to try and just move the $$ into something else.

Call me a :tinfoilhat: but who knows:shrug:

Thank you in advance for the answers.

1. You don't...
and that's exactly why they are doing it.

It's just money laundering (through their cronies who
sit on the boards of each so-called charity)

2. I think that is a very legitimate question
If you caught any of the C-SPAN scandal shows this week, there were many "organizations" that got involved, either by choice or by chance, and now they are tainted too.

Looking at where they are giving that money makes great sense to me.

3. I keep wondering why the rush to give the money away
They already accepted it and their hands are stained (the words of a fellow DUer from a post yesterday). It's not the same money, just a like amount. If the money is to be given to someone, shouldn't it go to one of the tribes Abramoff ripped off?

6. During the Gannon Scandal
I ran across several (make that MANY) articles where the people that were profiled had connections to charities (present or past). For some, it was their only income/job. At the time, I wondered if they might be money-laundering charities. I remember they often had box numbers and also a street address. However, there were multiple groups who used the same street address, but a different box. Turned out to be a Mailboxes-type operation, which allowed their operation to look like it had an office. I suppose you could say they did, it was just a teeny, tiny box.

Now, I can't find the articles.

http://www.guidestar.org/using/ It can really be quite complex to actually get to the bottom of a charity's legitimacy. this tool provides a starting point.

9. Do You Have A Link To Check Out
Health insurance companies, too? I haven't signed up for Medicare D, because I have a fear of signing into an insurance company run by this corrupt bunch. You know that if there is easy money, they will be there, and I don't recognize a lot of the company names. :-(

As for the charities during the Gannon fiasco, I linked onto the charity chain when I "bumped into" Bobby Eberle who was owner/involved with Talon News. Not sure where I went from there.
