Wait a minute...didn't they just tell us the job picture was GREAT?
Just two days ago, wasn't it? Ton's of new jobs, economy is going great guns? Well, CNN just did the Friday News Dump, I guess..."disappointing employment numbers" for December. Only 108,000 jobs. In DECEMBER, when seasonal employment should have provided a spike.

Top it off with the page 27C story in today's papers that stores did pretty poorly this Christmas, and steam just starts coming out my ears...Bush is still all over the airwaves saying how fabuluous his economic turnaround has been. Is there anything the man DOESN'T lie about?

3. I'm on news blackout today
Bush is in Chicago and even our local stations are supposed to be airing the lies.

But, yes, you're correct! They change things so often it's hard to keep up and impossible to know what the truth is.

4. I hear ya...
And some of the other numbers keep getting `revised`, usually downward, a month or 2 later. So at the time it looks like all is peachy keen......

5. Here's how I see it...
Wal-Mart started the holiday season 2 weeks earlier this year,
thereby prompting other retailers to follow suit.

That puts seasonal temp jobs back into November, instead
of December.

Lots of stores discounted items up to 60% to get shoppers
in the door in November. Even then, I never saw crowds
at malls or in 5 star stores.

I imagine that stores either hired fewer temps or let them go before the
end of Dec.

Just my observation.

6. The Bush economy produced a lot of high paying positions
Lobbyists, Oil Executives, Criminal Defense Lawyers, Military Contractors and there were tons of available jobs in the military.

8. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Don't remind the sheeple.
They don't want them to know they're a bunch of pathological LIARS. HELL, the asshole is in Chicago talking about how GREAT the economy is! They have no shame. Lies, lies, lies all the time. It never ends.

10. Well, the Chicago trip is a fitting charade.
It fits right into his theme of "Looky here, not over there!" just as he did yesterday, hosting a photo-op party to tout how great his little war was going, even as 130 people -- including 11 of our own men and women -- were being blown to bits in Iraq.

He truly is shameless. I have no patience for those who say it isn't right to compare this regime to the Nazi's. BuchCo's methodology is straight out of the Third Reich.

9. Job data was adjusted up for November from 215,000 to 300,000
Just an FYI

<http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/business/AP-Economy.html>

The 108,000 gain in payrolls registered in December followed a big pickup of 305,000 jobs added in November, according to revised figures released Friday. That was the most since April 2004 and was even stronger than the 215,000 job gains first estimated for November a month ago.

So if you take the 2 together it would appear they roughly match forecasters expectations.

If I had to guess, it would appear that the seasonal bump may have just occurred a month earlier in line with the policy of some chains to try to offer earlier sales.

That December jobs were flat may also reinforce your second statement about a poor Holiday Sales season, since it would seem that after the initial seasonal adjustment in Nov, stores found no real need to hire more workers in Dec to handle increasing sales.

Just speculation on my part.

As far as the Bushies go, they will continue to crow about the wonders of their Tax-cut/War machine economy until the bottom falls out of it with the Twin Deficit and Trade imbalance finally are enough to scare of foreign purchasers of our dept.
