Poll question: Do you think that a military strike against Iran is probable?
There are the recent actions, such as not meeting with the UN atomic group, the inflammatory comments about Israel, the general uptick in ME tensions, the veiled comments from the administration, etc.

Is some type of military action against Iran likely?

9. Because the NSA and Bush would not make a mistake, would they?
Iran and/or Syria are going to get hit this year, you can bank on that.

CIA’s Goss Reportedly Warned Ankara Of Iranian Threat

Published: 12/13/2005

Cumhuriyet - During his recent visit to Ankara, CIA Director Porter Goss reportedly brought three dossiers on Iran to Ankara.
Goss is said to have asked for Turkey’s support for Washington’s policy against Iran’s nuclear activities, charging that Tehran had supported terrorism and taken part in activities against Turkey.

Goss also asked Ankara to be ready for a possible US air operation against Iran and Syria.

Goss, who came to Ankara just after FBI Director Robert Mueller’s visit, brought up Iran’s alleged attempts to develop nuclear weapons. It was said that Goss first told Ankara that Iran has nuclear weapons and this situation was creating a huge threat for both Turkey and other states in the region. Diplomatic sources say that Washington wants Turkey to coordinate with its Iran policies. The second dossier is about Iran’s stance on terrorism. The CIA argued that Iran was supporting terrorism, the PKK and al-Qaeda. The third had to do with Iran’s alleged stance against Ankara. Goss said that Tehran sees Turkey as an enemy and would try to “export its regime.”

5. Possible? Yes. Smart? Draft? Sandwich?
We don't have enough troops at the moment. Unless one of two things happens.

1) We reinstate the draft.

or

2) We take all of our forces in Afghanistan and all of our forces in Iraq and tell them to "meet each other in the middle".

Just send Afghan troops west and Iraqi troops east. Meet in Tehran.

Hey, if we controlled Iranian oil AND Iraqi oil! :)

Wait, isn't that the kind of thinking that led us to the shit we're in today? :)

the Reserves are already spread too thin. Also, Poland's heart probably isn't in it.

8. I voted 'no' but if conditions change it is possible
right now bush was no "political capital" If, let's say, the repukes sweep the midterms, then military action is almost assured. If things magically get better in Iraq, that makes action much more likely also. I've also thought if prospects for the midterms start to look especially bleak, the repubs might attack in political desperation. Right now though, I just don't see it.

11. If the Likud fascists win the Israeli election in March, consider it....
...a done deal. Which explains why Likud may have had sufficient motivation to ensure that a certain new party in Israel self destructed before it ever really left the ground.

If you know what I mean..... :scared:

15. Some type of military action against Iran would include airstrikes, right?
Then I say absolutely. Whether it's Israel, US or both, Iran's nuclear facilities will get hit sometime in 2006.
