Hey freepers--Cunningham wore a wire
How's that grab you? He's one of your heroes, isn't he? And BTW, there is no use saying, 'I bet there were some members of the 'Democrat' party involved', because there weren't.

8. Here you go, from greatest:
Washington’s power players have always bragged about being well-wired, but for disgraced former congressman Duke Cunningham, “wired” wasn’t just a figure of speech. In a week when legislators are focused on the question of who else might be brought down by ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s cooperation with prosecutors as he seeks lenient sentencing over his two federal guilty pleas this week,
sources tell TIME that ex-Rep. Cunningham wore a wire to help investigators gather evidence against others just before copping his own plea.

anyone got an instruction sheet for this game ?

9. Oh yeah, check it out. . . they ARE already blaming the dems:
To: GaltMeister
What I don't get is how this guy lived such an ostentatious lifestyle and nobody wondered how a congressman could afford those luxuries. Particularly in the days where the political parties put the opposition members under an electron microscope. The Dems should have discovered all this and ratted Cunningham out years ago.

Maybe, John, it's because most of them live that lifestyle. A lot of them are rich to begin with; and a lot of others get that way once they reach DC.
Granted, but that doesn't explain why the Democrats didn't notice that he was living far beyond his means. I believe it was them who finally discovered that he'd sold his house to a defense contractor at far above market, which is what got the ball rolling on this scandal, but I'd have thought he'd have been found out long before that. The only explanation that occurs to me is that maybe they don't normally bother to do oppo research on Republicans who are in extremely safe districts, and that only their recent "culture of corruption" offensive caused them to start.

to be living above their means?

11. Republicans have at least helped one segment of the economy...
Prosecuting attorneys and legal staff are in high demand... This will employ hundreds of people to prosecute even a dozen congressmen (and were talking probably many more than that).

17. No KIDDING. I heard the Justice Dept. won't prosecute everyone
involved because there's TOO MANY of them. So what? They get off with a slap on the hand? At the VERY LEAST, they should leave Congress. Last number I heard was 60 Congressman. UNBELIEVABLE!

16. From "fly by wire" to "fry by wire" ... I love it.
I gotta believe he nailed Duncan Hunter and (hopefully) J.D. Hayworth ... two of the dirtiest critters in D.C.

20. The image of homophobic Repukelickers frisking one another for wires ...
... has my brain all a-twitter! Nothing proves the rampant corruption in the GreedyObesePig caucus than their own worries and the furtive glances of their own constituents.

A clean conscience sure is the most comfortable pillow on which to rest one's head at night.
