Bush in one word: "Incompetent" (Pew poll)
A majority of Americans, 56 percent, believe Bush is "out of touch," the poll found. When asked for a one-word description of Bush, the most frequent response was "incompetent," followed by "good," "idiot" and "liar." In February 2005, the most frequent reply was "honest."

"The transformation from being seen as honest to being seen as incompetent is an extraordinary indicator of how far he has fallen," Kohut said.

Bush's slump is deep enough to put Republican majorities in the Senate and House of Representatives at risk, pollsters said. Democrats must gain 15 House seats and six Senate seats to regain power in each chamber.

"It's not the environment that we want to be running in," Republican pollster David Winston said. "Republicans can still hold the House and the Senate, but it's becoming increasingly more complicated."

In a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, 61 percent said the Iraq war would be a very important or the most important issue in deciding their vote for Congress. As the third anniversary of the invasion approaches, they preferred Democrats over Republicans in handling Iraq by 48 to 40 percent.

4. It's all I can do...
...to not stomp on my television when David Brooks shows his stupid face on that show. I'll be interested to see what he has to say as well. He's such a fucking worm.

8. Shields usually looks as though...
...he's barely suppresssing his incredulity and outrage after Brooks speaks. Or is that just me?

10. No, that's not just you.
Shields hasn't gotten any better at suppressing his astonishment at the stupid shit that comes out of Brooks' mouth.

I will say that my favorite David Brooks moment ever was during the PBS coverage of the Dem convention when Brooks, in spite of his personal idiocy, positively fell in love with Howard Dean, and couldn't hide it.

My wife and I spent the rest of that evening doing tableaus of David Brooks pleading with Jim Lehrer, "Do you think Howard Dean is going to come back and talk to us?"

9. Did you see Brooks' ed in yesterday's NY Times?
Incredible.
He is turning. Throwing s**t and pissed off, disillusioned.

I cannot wait for tonight's NewHour.

Of course, he will probably be his same ass-hole-ish self.

But Mark is gonna have some fun.

7. No matter what words are used to describe this nincompoop in the WH
the fact remains that we still have to contend with the crooked voting machines.

No matter how many people come out for the Democrats, those machines are sure to whip us in the end.

This bunch in the WH has torn up so much about our usual way of life that it is nearly impossible to get anything fixed before the next major problem begins.
