Iraqi pull out equals massive loss for Bush in the War on Terror. |
|
This is an example of what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. In Bush's case that means using terror as means to promote foreign and domestic policy. Let's face it the man's entire Presidency is based on terror. He can't go anywhere without politicizing 9/11. A defeat in Iraq will be hugely disaterous for Bush. This is the only reason why we are still in Iraq, so that Bush can save face.

2. And yet every day that goes by |

without him backing off his inane promises to "stay the course" and not "cut 'n' run" makes the inevitable pullout that much more damaging to him and his flimsy image as a "strong leader". Let him keep digging himself in deeper.

the pullout is being driven by the fact that the Guard cannot be rotated to there indefinitely. "Pull out? Doesn't sound very manly to me!" --George Carlin

4. The real statement of Iraq will be in what we leave behind. |
|
If its a fractured set of waring countries, that will be bad. As it is, I think that the kurdish region will break away, its certain. The question in my mind is if there will be a breakup between Sunnis and Shiites.

They are no longer under the yoke of saddam, and know kurdistan is finally in sight, they just have to wait for the US to leave.

Baaah, huuuumbug... There is no 'state of Terrorism' to have war upon..Terrorism is an ideology, a state of being, an event...NOT an actual country to declare war upon. This is no better nor logical than to declare war on drugs and run around blowing up known or unknown drug dealers homes..with huge cluster bombs.
Irag was the 'front' they needed to have a place to 'get their war on'. That's why we're there, why we're still there and will continue to be there. You'll notice how we keep hearing how Iraq is the central front now for ALL the terrorists..therby giving it a face. Clever eh?
Now they stand (they think) justified to take away all our freedoms here, destroy our constitution piece by piece, wrapping it all in the mantra of 'war on terrorism'...
We're at war so I can do this... Remember this is a country in a war... We're in a time of war... I have the power in wartime...
Just my humble opinion..

6. the country's interests will be important long after the Bushes are jailed |
|
these cocksuckers have gotten this country into a fine mess, because if we leave posthaste, there will be a power vacuum which will be filled by the Iranians, Shia fanatics, and wannabe powerbrokers like the Indians (with the Paks in tow - strange bedfellows), the Chinese and who knows who else. We have an interest as fellow residents of the planet not to have another regime of religious fanatics take hold like the one we have here. We also have an interest in not letting other realpolitik dilettantes like the ones we have in office play their games there instead of us playing ours - no trade.
I propose the following: 1. the sane members of Congress take control of US foreign policy. They block every initiative of the administration which does not pass muster of someone with an IQ above 100 (this excludes most of the administration). 2. they drive foreign policy away from serving Likud and US oil companies, and towards inclusion for all factions in Iraq evincing an orientation to work cooperatively. Power players need not apply and will be undercut at every opportunity. 3. they investigate the President and his lackeys until their asses are so sore they have to eat standing up and take painkillers to shit.
The goal is to immobilize this administration until it can either be impeached or it's January 20, 2009. Adios, boys, you shot your load and it came back down on your head.
