Robertson Issues Statement RE: Sharon

Robertson Spokesperson Addresses Comments Made by Pat Robertson Regarding Ariel Sharon

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA., January 5, 2006—Pat Robertson expresses his deep sadness over Ariel Sharon’s life threatening stroke and concern for Israel’s future security.
On The 700 Club broadcast this morning Robertson said he has met with Sharon at significant times and considers him a friend. Robertson, an ordained minister and bible teacher, has been a life long supporter of Israel and has continually expressed grave concern over dividing the land of Israel. Robertson pointed to the book of Joel in the Old Testament to show a biblical perspective of God’s view of Israel and efforts made from people who try to divide God’s land:

“In the book of Joel, the prophet Joel makes it very clear that God has ‘enmity against those who divide My land.’ God considers this land to be His. When you read the Bible, He said this is my land. For any Prime Minister of Israel who decides he will carve it up and give it away, God said, “No, this is Mine.”

According to his spokesperson, Angell Watts, Robertson is simply reminding his viewers what the Bible has to say about efforts made to divide the land of Israel.

She also expressed Dr. Robertson’s outrage at People for the American Way, who have a clear left-wing political agenda and who, on an ongoing basis, lift his comments out of context and widely circulate them in an attempt to discredit him.

Actually, the passage from the Book of Joel is talking about condemning those who took Israel away to foreign lands as conquered slaves: "For behold, in those days and at that time, When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat Then I will enter into judgment with them there On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; And they have divided up My land. They have also cast lots for My people, Traded a boy for a harlot And sold a girl for wine that they may drink." Joel 3:1-3

Robertson's bible exegesis has always been . . . loose. But to say that Sharon suffered a stroke because he violated some biblical edict is so far beyond any possible reading of this passage that Robertson should be censured by his own denomination.

I'm not holding my breath on that one.

2. If Recollection Serves, Sir
The Prophet Joel was refering specifically to the creation of large estates, dividing the land into private fiefdoms of rich men. That is a thing the prophets waxed particularly wroth against on numerous occassions....

7. I suppose any horseshit they could come up with is better than what they
actually SAID!!!

But ya know, I cannot help but think that this was not just a gasbag spouting off. He says this crap DELIBERATELY. And it seems to come in predictable cycles, like, say, when he needs more contributions to keep his con game going.

It seems this kind of shit serves to "rile" his hateful, awful base. Obviously, speech like that gets the cash flowing. And that, in and of itself, is really DISTURBING, when ya think about it!! There have to be a load of meanspirited, venomous people to keep that behemoth of a "ministry" afloat--he sure spares no expense when it comes to his sleazy, shiny suits, pomaded hair, and comforts....

The only thing that gives us any hope at all is that people that hateful, who would support that turd, are, by their very support, also quite obviously very STUPID. Come on, DARWIN!!

i predict we don't hear too much from the likes of robertson, or bennett etc now on in! the staggering cost of stupidity (i thought) was one of leftism's worst proclivities ie giving new moms AND DADS a year off with pay to be with baby etc, yet the sheer unadulterated stupidity of the gopigs seems to be frightening even the gopigs themselves! ole darwin really does seem to have been taking it a bit too easy since nov2000!
