Bruce Tinsley apparently has a new obsession: Brokeback Mountain. For Tinsley, it's not that right-wingers are
homophobes, you see. Naw. They're just
grossed out by two guys getting it on. Their hatred is just totally
natural. For the last few days, Tinsley has devoted his trash comic strip "Mallard Fillmore" to basically the same idea over and over again, changing a few words here and there to make it look like a series. Here are a few:

Dear Mr. Tinsley,
You certainly do seem fixated lately on a certain film whose subject matter is so threatening, so disturbing, so—wait for it—gross, that it leaves much of its audience in tears. Yes, unrequited love hits me right in the gut, too. Social repression is just disgusting, don’t you think?
Your effort to redefine the word “homophobe” from a literalist standpoint is so quaint and, well, third-grade. You might learn some chemistry nomenclature and discover that “phobia” translates to aversion as well as fear. Perhaps the word “bigot” pleases your etymological palate. Fewer syllables for you to digest.
You are a bigot, Mr. Tinsley.
I’m sure you’ll continue to comfort the hateful, reassuring them that their bigotry is not bigotry, it’s just gut reaction. Thankfully, work so insipid and repetitive as yours isn’t likely to capture many young minds.
Cheers from the right side of history,
*me*
