2. Awwwww, But I Love That Movie!
Though the codpiece I can see as comparison, no way bush can compare to dredd! Maybe Rob Schneider though.

3. First of all...
the movie couldnt hold a candle to the comics :)

Second, there is no way you can compare Bush to Dredd. Dredd may have been harsh, BUT he was unswervingly fair - in his case justice was truly blind. No cronyism for Dredd! He would lock up his own mother for jaywalking, and would give her extra time for trying to pervert the course of justice should she try to use her relationship with the judge to get a lighter sentence.

Third, Dredd was a judge on the front line - facing the criminals and the bullets without flinching - Bush would shit his pants if he even had to act as backup to Dredd :)

Fourth Dredd never used his position to benefit himself, his family or his friends financially - he would lock up anyone even suggesting he do so.

Fifth, Dredd made his own decisions based on his extensive knowledge of the law - he didnt have a posse of "yes men" to tell him he was right, and he didnt need someone like Cheney to tell him what to think and do.

Finally, Dredd ALWAYS did what what was required by the law - even to his own detriment. He was willing to give up his own life and reputation to see that justice was served.

Bush is almost the diametric opposite of Dredd - hell, Bush would be "Most Wanted" by the good Judge!

4. Exactly. I just didn't consider it important enough to put that much
effort into, but I'm glad you did! Because you put into words exactly my thoughts at the time I read the thread but was too lazy to post myself LOL

5. I think both of you misunderstand me
Bush, much like Dredd, considers himself to "be the law".

I remember all thru that movie, Stallone's ranting "I AM THE LAW"

Bush pretty much sees himself as the law, too.

Don't overcomplicate matters.

6. You said he reminds you of Judge Dredd.
We are responding that other than one catch phrase, the differences are ENORMOUS.

I would say that's fair enough on our end.

8. LOL I'm with ya there. Gotta be honest though, I've never read one in my
life actually.

I didn't even know dredd was a comic book LOL

For me it was more the pic in your OP, it made me think "hell no bush ain't that",

but I hear what you were saying with the "I am the law" comparison :)

9. Ok so I admit it, I am a comic book geek :)
What I am trying to point out is with the Judge Dredd of "2000 AD" fame "I am the law" meant something different to what you are suggesting. When Dredd said "I am the law" what he meant is that his entire existence was based on the law, not that he MADE the law.

It would be like if you knew every sylable ever written in a law book and that your entire existence was based on applying those laws to real world situations. He never MADE the law, he only ENFORCED it, but his whole existence was based on enforcing the law. He WAS the law only in that the law was all he knew, cared about, or thought about. It was his life.

So really comparing Bush to Dredd is comparing wrong to right. Sure they may sound the same, but the motivation and the outcome is completely different.

10. I knew Judge Dredd.
Judge Dredd was a friend of mine.
And, pretzeldunce, you're no Judge Dredd.

(Although you both have a strange attraction to playing dress-up.)
