Doubt In GOP Heartland... |
|
In state's GOP heartland, questions; Many die-hard Republicans shaking their heads over Bush, war'Oceanside, San Diego County -- Dennis Dalbey, armed with scissors, an electric hair clipper and a steady hand, has given dozens of Camp Pendleton's young Marines the regulation haircut before they head to combat in Iraq.
In his Cut-Rite Barbershop on the Coast Highway, he wears his loyalty to those customers openly -- the business is adorned with painted yellow ribbons, flags and "We support our troops'' banners.
But these days, Dalbey, a Republican and a self-described conservative who voted for President Bush, is not nearly as supportive of the commander in chief.
"Enough is enough,'' he said of the war while showing Lance Cpl. Aaron Kernell, 19, from Tennessee, to a red Naugahyde chair for a cut. "If they haven't got this thing settled by year's end, it's time to bring the boys home.''' http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/03/20/IRAQCAL.TMP

2. This Is Downtown Camp Pendelton |
|
This isn't the Country Club Repugnicans...but the military runts and grunts speaking out here. It's definitely corroborating the polls showing a growing majority of the rank and file inside the military are wanting some end to this "mission".
The one thing this regime has done has shot that long-standing grip of the Repugnicans on the military and could even lead to a future opportunity for Democrats if we work hard to show our true support for these people and their very silent, very difficult situations.

3. "Enough is enough," Mr. Dalbey? |
|
I submit that you haven't had nearly enough, Mr. Dalbey. You, your compatriots, your whole war-mongering outlook, your past support for this murderous regime, all tell me that you haven't had enough by any means or measure, Mr. Dalbey. I think you should spend a couple of years trimming the hair on the corpses our military is creating in Iraq. And keep up a steady round of barber shop patter for the grieving family as you trim the locks of their seven-year-old. Explain how it is that you think, as a Republican in the United States of America, that George W. Bush was the best man to be president. Go on to tell the family as you gently glide around the dead boy's ear how it is that American military might is bringing peace to the world. Be sure to mention how wisely the Republicans have spent half a trillion dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Then go do it 5,000 more times for 5,000 more families. Than I'll think you're getting close to "enough."
