This is where our senators and members of the House of Representatives come into the picture. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., appeared on Meet the Press on Oct. 31 and said if he had to do it over again, he'd vote for the war. “It's a war against terror,” said Schumer.
This past summer, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., called for an increase of over 80,000 troops to Iraq (winning praise from conservative media). It's curious that our senators are supposed to be representing New York, but vote like they're from Oklahoma.
With polls showing Americans wanting our troops out of Iraq from a low of 53 percent to over 60 percent, imagine what that statistic would be for blue state citizens and, more specifically, New York.
Thankfully, Congressman Maurice Hinchey, Dist. 22nd, is not buying into the war. Unlike Schumer and Clinton, he did not vote for the war resolution. His integrity on the issue has not faltered. The majority of Americans now know that Hinchey and 126 other representatives voting against the war were not falling for administration lies and disinformation.
