"They yearned for democracy and we gave it to them -
and now the seed is planted, and it will grow and flourish, and democracy and freedom will spread throughout the world, and the greatness of America will be recognized throughout the world. And it will be a great thing."

I have a co-worker who talks like that, and it drives me fricking c-r-a-z-y!

2. Planted from the end of a weapon ...
...therefore it won't grow a thing but resistance and bloodshed.
Especially considering the Western world's last 100 years of history, and Imperialism, in that region.
Just go back 50 for that matter.

Oh I forgot.
Co-workers, like that, know nothing of history and couldn't care less...I know...I work with those types also.

4. Ah the greatness of America

I do have to wonder sometimes if this isn't some enormous, subtle inferiority complex at work. Except the people who say this sort of thing don't know anything about any countries except America so they can't be doing that as they've got no-one they know enough about to feel subconsciously inferior TO.
