There is "tasteless," then there is this...
Auschwitz day trip ad deemed 'tasteless'

A Polish Jewish leader has criticized a Krakow bus company's recent advertisement for round-trip tickets to Auschwitz, with barbed wire in the ad's background.

The advertisement is "outrageous and beyond tasteless," said Piotr Kadlcik, chairman of Poland's Union of Religious Jewish Communities.

Kadlcik was reacting to an article published last week in Poland's leading daily, Gazeta Wyborcza, which reported that the PKS Malopolska bus firm had recently put up posters in hotels, travel agencies and hostels around Krakow that read, in English, "Auschwitz? With a return ticket? From the city center? Yes it's possible."

The roughly $24 offer, which includes a tour guide for the former death camp, is superimposed against a fuzzy photograph of a camp building with barbed wire in sharp focus.

1. The only thing more tasteless would be if Disney got the contract to run
the place.

Completely tasteless and bizarre.

5. It is in poor taste but
I am glad to see an effort being made to get more western tourists to the camp. In fact, I would like to see the stats on how many Polish citizens have been to the camps.

When I went in the 70s many tour buses were present and all of them were from Soviet states. We encountered no Polish citizens, Americans, Brits or western Europeans. If we had not arrived in our own rental car I don't think it would have been easy to get out to Auschwitz.
