Techno-people! Anyone into DIY RFID chipping? |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 10:56 AM by BiggJawn
I read MAKE 'zine and hang out on their blog a lot, and twice this week there's been entries about people putting RFID chips in their hands. One guy did it himself (gruesome pix) and the other link suggests finding a Vet or having your GP do it.
The up side is that now you carry your computer password and door key (if you have elecric locks) with you at all times.
The downside is just how much personal info do you program into your hand dongle? One fellow says he's working on "Shield Fabric" to prevent someone sliding up to him with an antenna and ripping him off.
Could that explain The Gloved One? :7
Me? Hell, I don't even want a tattoo, much less a chip. Would be kind of cool to just wave your hand and pay for stuff, fly through the toll booth, open doors, etc.

1. You need to watch Bruce Almighty... you'll get over the chip |
|
fetish, or rather the desire to just "wave your hand and pay for stuff". I'm kidding about the Bruce Almighty thing... and thanks for the link.. I saw a program where guys make this and that out of discarded this and that.. I hope these are the guys, it was very very interesting... :)

3. someone suggested putting the chip into a ring |
|
which could be kinda cool. anyway, i'd rather have someone steal a ring off my finger than cut off my hand.
