Thoughts on the James Moore/No-Fly List situation
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 01:21 PM by Neecy
With the corporate media filtering out 'news' in favor of entertainment and GOP propaganda, where have we gone in search of facts, analysis, and truth?

Message boards are useful, and indy media is filling a gap. But since around the time of the Clinton impeachment, I've increasingly turned to books - the only media thus far not clamped down upon - to get a sense of perspective and views that aren't presented in the MSM.

I just finished reading Amy Goodman's Exception to the Rulers (highly recommend, btw) and I've just begun The Sorrows of Empire by Chalmers Johnson. I can add these books, as many here at DU can, to the large stack of books I've read over the past years by authors unafraid to tell an unvarnished truth to our people.

In the back of my mind, though, is the fear that a crackdown on authors of political/social works is inevitable. Books are the only thing out of their grasp right now, and unless AOL/TW or Murdoch buy out every publishing house in the world (still possible) their other alternative is to begin a system of harassment, trumped-up McCarthyite charges, or other acts allowed by the "patriot" act against authors to discredit or silence them. I have no doubt that what's happening to James Moore will be repeated, again and again, until what we read in book form is as sanitized and non-threatening to the regime as the fluff and crap and propaganda we watch on CNN or read in Newsweek.

That's why we should care about this, and raise a holy ruckus before it's too late.

1. When I buy this type of book I pay cash
and don't use my Barnes & NOble card to get a discount either. The saleslady blathered, oh, there's no way they can trace you bought this book. Yeah, sure.

2. Amy Goodman told a story on her show one day of being pulled out
of line at Heathrow(I believe) and searched. She was also asked if she could be given a small dose of radiation(?) to which she replied "Hell NO". Although she was allowed to board the flight that was a very weird encounter. While she maintained it was just a "random" check I wonder how many others have experienced the same.

:scared:

Former 007 and "The Saint" Roger MOORE??? MICHAEL MOORE???? Senator Edward MOORE Kennedy????

Perhaps Osama has MOORE as one of his middle names!!!! Or Saddam Moore Hussein!!!!

James Moore may not be the only one catching "moore" shit than he should from these incompetent dimwits who are responsible for our "protection".....
