Pelosi:Delay NOT Kicked Out For What He Did-Kicked Out For Being CAUGHT!
DeLay was not kicked out for what he had done. He was kicked out for getting caught.

UPDATE: Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

"For years, at the expense of the American people, the House Republicans have enabled and benefited from the Republican culture of corruption engineered by Tom DeLay. The culture of corruption is so pervasive in the Republican conference that a single person stepping down is not nearly enough to clean up the Republican Congress.

"At every opportunity, the Republicans have chosen their culture of corruption over upholding a high ethical standard in the House and Americans have paid the price with higher home heating costs, increased pharmaceutical costs, and an out of control deficit."

3. I still don't understand
How he is able to keep his seat on the senate while under indictment. I understand the "innocent until proven guilty", but doesn't it stand to reason that he should at least be on suspension or something?

Where I work, if you are indicted they FIRE YOU! Guilty or innocent don't matter, a felony indictment costs you your job and the people here have WAY less responsibility than a US Congressperson. I'm not saying kick him out, I'm saying he shouldn't get a say until this is cleared up (i.e. he goes to jail), then he should be kicked out.

I'm not saying that how they do it here (my workplace) is right, just using it as an example.

7. So did Duke
He stayed right til the last moment when he walked out to his press conference to resign. All the votes he cast during the time he was "cooperating" should be thrown out!

10. Amen.
It would be nice if there could be some kind of rules change or law passed to stop this sort of thing. Of course, when ALL of them are criminals, who is going to pass a law to stop criminals from having any say.

17. And I can't remember where
but someone on a show I heard asked the question on all the bills they made with the Abramoff money or whatever with DeLay's deal and if those bills can be over turned.

22. Constitution I.5(2) Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings,
punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour; and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member ...

So the 435 member House can expel DeLay, if two thirds concur ... hey! that would be a fun project!

8. Anyone want to take a stab at identifying this quote?
Because it sure as hell succinctly describes America today ->

"we have adopted a sort of a pragmatic test for right and wrongwhatever works is right. If it works, it's all right. Nothing is wrong but that which does not work. If you don't get caught, it's right. That's the attitude, isn't it? It's all right to disobey the Ten Commandments, but just don't disobey the eleventh, "Thou shall not get caught." That's the attitude. That's the prevailing attitude in our culture. No matter what you do, just do it with a bit of finesse. You know, a sort of attitude of the survival of the slickest. Not the Darwinian survival of the fittest, but the survival of the slickest whoever can be the slickest is the one who right.
It's all right to lie, but lie with dignity.
It's all right to steal and to rob and extort, but do it with a bit of finesse. (
It's even all right to hate, but just dress your hate up in the garments of love and make it appear that you are loving when you are actually hating.
Just get by! That's the thing that's right according to this new ethic.

21. Lots of eternally timely speech transcriptions here :
http://www.africanamericans.com/MLKjrSpeechMenu.htm

I've been listening to MLK speeches while I work lately.
The (I guess it shouldn't be) surprsing thing is that they stand
the test of time and stand as a truth regardless of the date.
If you can get past the point that at the time these speeches were first
delivered they dealt solely with the problem of rights and race in America,
it is easy to see how the view can be transposed upon our nation now.
A moral spiritual truth remains unwavering regardless of the age.
As does the blight of greed, classism, bigotry and fascism.

"...we've got to know the simple disciplines of being honest and loving and just with all humanity."

"Most people can't stand up for their convictions, because the majority of people might not be doing it. (Amen, Yes) See, everybody's not doing it, so it must be wrong. And since everybody is doing it, it must be right. (Yes, Lord help him) So a sort of numerical interpretation of what's right."

16. That's what we teach our kids, isn't it?
As soon as they can read numbers they know daddy is going 40mph in the 30mph zone. It's OK though ... as long as daddy doesn't get caught. Heaven forbid they ever overhear what happens at tax time, right?

14. Yep, Delay created this culture of corruption
Its his baby. You would think any honest person would be denouncing the criminal. I guess honesty and ethics dont matter to that bunch. Power is all that matters.

Bush will probably hand him the medal of freedom next week.
