Delay Steps Down
Accepts no Responsibillity; Blames others for His problems

Accepting the inevitable, today, Tom DeLay relinquished his Majority Leader seat permanently (via Kos). In doing so, he predictably blamed the Democrats, rather than accepting responsibility for his own mistakes. In a letter to rank-and-file Republicans, DeLay said, "I have always acted in an ethical manner." At the same time he said, "I cannot allow our adversaries to divide and distract our attention."

DeLay is facing not only GOP opposition in the primary, but a strong Dem opponent in November, Nick Lampson. One way we can all stand up for integrity in government is by making a donation to Nick Lampson. (I have contributed already.)

Republicans will claim that the scandals are "just a few bad apples" and that "Democrats do it too." The truth is, DeLay and Abramoff were at the center of a massive culture of corruption that funnelled money to the GOP to benefit special interests at the expense of the American people. Many, many more shoes will be failling before this is over.

15. I saw Rep. Conyers speak today! He is eloquent with a touch of humor

at times-- what a wonderful man. He is my #1 hero, our #1 fighter for democracy.

He spoke on several topics including election fraud/reform, and strongly urges all of us to support his investigation of the b**sh administration which may lead to impeachable offenses. His website, www.johnconyers.com has more info.
