Bill Bennett has declared a slime war against old people
It started with Jack Murtha, which Bennett has responded to mainly by saying Murtha is senile.

But for several weeks, Bennett has developed a full scale pseudo-philosophical attack on old people as a group. It seems calculated to me. Like he's trying to divide people along generational lines for some political purpose.

Maybe old people are against school vouchers and are threatening Bill's bottom line?

Two recent examples:

4. What a POS
And the irony! "Remembering Ronald Reagen" on his web site. Talking about "old" ideas from the 30's, and then talking about the friggin' "founding fathers" Isn't the constitition an old idea you scumbag? One you're actively working on gutting?
Then the referral to commercials for younger people-- "prettier women" what, you want some young stuff you old fart? I heard you refer to your sons, you checkin' out their girlfriends? Or they a little too "old" for you?

Personally, I think the old, and what we call the "old, old" have been invisible in this country for too long. They're human beings with human vitallity like any other. That "senile" reference is just ageism at it's worst.
Let's talk addiction shall we? Not the sole province of the young, by any means, but say an uncontrollable desire to gamble to the point of dishonesty? Or take foaming at the mouth, young earth fundlementalists,--not the most level headed of folks, by any means.

I'll take an 88 year old Democrat who's slowed down a bit with age anyday--and I've met them, believe me. I was a long-term care nurse for years. Some of the toughest human beings I've ever met we're 70's, 80's. And when they lean left, (and many of them do) that's when they are NOT "stuck" that's when there are OPEN to new ideas, and having lived in a century that has seen more change, perhaps than any other, are quite accepting of it. They may mourn the past, but can see into the possiblities of the future. Ever see a 90 something for the first time on the internet? I have. It's a beautiful thing.

That fucker. Now I'm pissed. Remind me not to listen to him again, although I appreciate you bringing this up.

7. he's scared of old people
and all republicans should be in 2006...

http://www.americanprogress.org/site/pp.asp?c=biJRJ8OVF&b=1312951

<snip>

The results can be seen in Americans' attitudes toward Congress 11 months before Election Day 2006. By a 65%-19% margin, Americans age 65 and above disapprove of the performance of Congress; those under 65 are also negative but less lopsidedly, 58%-27%. Moreover, senior citizens say by 47%-37% that they want Democrats rather than Republicans to win control of Capitol Hill. Those under 65 prefer a Democratic victory by a narrower 45%-39% margin.

That disparity, like some other political differences between older and younger Americans, is relatively slight. But it has big implications for the 2006 campaign for two reasons.

One is that older voters, having given Mr. Bush slightly greater support than younger voters in his narrow 2004 re-election victory, have now become the most critical of his job performance. In the Journal/NBC poll, for instance, Americans under 65 disapprove of Mr. Bush's job performance by a margin of 16 percentage points, while those 65 and above disapprove by a margin of 20 percentage points.

The second is that older voters play an outsize role in midterm contests, because they traditionally turn out at higher rates while many young voters tune out campaigns not featuring a presidential contest. Voters older than 60 made up 24% of those voting in 2004, but a larger 28% in the 1998 midterm contest, the last such campaign for which exit-poll data are available.”

8. Not too many 'old people' I know
appreciate Bill Bennett. We have often wondered how this so-called educator, who shows his ignorance so blatantly and has been used as a GOP 'wiseman', ever managed to wiggle his way into politics.

10. He's merely middle-aged, if he lives to be 124-125.

I'll bet the odds in Vegas and other betting centers are against that.

11. Anyone that has a memory of ALL of Bill Bennett's failures,
are crazy and unreliable.

Bill Bennett is the Joah of society. Joah = JOA = Jack Off Artist.

I've never seen a degenerate slot machine player that was too smart.
